Brake Pad: Testing and Inspection
1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Remove the wheels and tires.
3. Inspect the front brake shoes and linings for wear. If the lining is worn to within 1.5 mm (0.060 inch) of the shoe, replace all (four) brake shoes and linings (complete axle set) on front wheels as required.
4. Inspect the rear brake shoes and linings for wear. If the lining is worn to within 3.2 mm (1/8 inch) of the shoe, replace all (four) brake shoes and linings (complete axle set) on rear wheels as required.
5. Visually check the disc brake caliper(s). If the caliper housing is leaking, it should be replaced. If a seal is leaking, the caliper must be disassembled and new seals installed. If a piston is seized in the bore, a new caliper housing is required.
6. Lower vehicle.
