Step2
Transmission Tester Installation (Set-Up Procedures)
Installing the Rotunda Transmission Tester 007-0085C or equivalent at the transaxle connector allows the separation of the transaxle electronics from the vehicle electronics.
Testing may cause additional Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) to be set. Therefore, it is important that you erase all DTCs whenever you make repairs. To verify elimination of all DTCs, rerun On-Board Diagnostics (OBD).
Also, disconnecting the normal vehicle electronics causes firm shifts and defaults the transaxle to maximum line pressure.
Note: The Transmission tester manual should be used to assist in diagnosis of electronically controlled transaxles:
CAUTION: To properly diagnose an AX4N transaxie, the Transmission Tester (007-0085C) must have been updated for AX4N compatibility. This update includes a new cable and overlay. Inspect your tester for the "AX4N compatible" label located near the tester's cable connector. If the label is missing, do not use the tester to diagnose the AX4N transaxle. Contact Rotunda Equipment or Hickok Electrical for information on how to have the tester updated.
1. If the vehicle has heat shields, remove them. Always replace them after service.
2. Disconnect vehicle harness at transmission connector.
CAUTION: Do not attempt to pry off transaxle connector with a screwdriver. This will damage the connector and could result in transaxle concerns.
3. Attach the appropriate overlay to the Transmission Tester.
4. Turn the SOLENOID SELECT dial to OHMS CHECK position.
CAUTION: For resistance checks be sure that the SOLENOID SELECT dial is set to the OHMS CHECK position, or damage to the ohmmeter could result.
5. Connect the appropriate interface cable to the Tester and then to the transaxle connector.
CAUTION: Route all cables away from heat sources to prevent damage to cables during testing.
6. Install a 0-2500 kPa (0-300 psi) line pressure gauge into line pressure tap on transaxle case.
