Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Testing and Inspection
Perform visual inspection prior to performing any diagnosis and testingprocedures.
1. Check coolant level and condition.
2. Check condition of radiator, thermostat, and hoses.
3. Check for fan blade interference.
4. Check for proper mounting of fan motor.
5. Check for proper fan blade attachment to motor.
6. Check for blown fuses.
7. Check wiring harnesses for damaged wires and poor or corroded connectors.
8. Ensure battery is fully charged.
9. Since the electric cooling fan is controlled by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM), if no visual or mechanical problems can be found, check the computer system for stored trouble codes, GO to Powertrain Management/Computers and Control Systems/Testing and Inspection.
