J7 Check Variable Assist Power Steering System

- Disconnect Generic Electronic Module (GEM).

Connector:

- Using an ohmmeter, Rotunda 73 Digital Multimeter 105-R0051 or equivalent, measure the resistance of circuit 679 (GY/BK) from pin C1-9 of fuse junction panel connector to pin 1 of 60-pin breakout box.

- Is resistance greater than 1000 ohms?

YES -- Problem in variable assist power steering system.

NO -- Service circuit 679 (GY/BK) for short to ground. Restore vehicle. Retest system.
