TF1 - Continuous DTC 0720: Perform Transmission Drive Cycle
Continuous Memory Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) 0720 indicates an intermittent fault or a hard fault is present. Perform a transmission drive cycle to identify which condition exists. If the DTC repeats, a hard fault is present.
Possible Causes:
- Transmission (internal components).
- Damaged OSS.
- Damaged harness circuits.
- Damaged PCM.
Transmission Drive Cycle:
- Record and clear Continuous DTCs.
- Warm engine to operating temperature.
- Place gear selector in DRIVE.
- Accelerate heavily to 35 mph. (Obey all local laws.)
- Return to idle.
- Shut the Engine Off.
- After drive cycle is completed, run Key On Engine Off (KOEO) Self-Test.
- Did Continuous DTC 0720 repeat?
YES -- GO to TF2. TF2 - Check OSS Circuit Continuity
NO -- The fault that produced DTC 0720 is intermittent. For further diagnosis, GO to Pinpoint Test Step Z1 with the following data: OSS PID, 11B5 = actual OSS output, and the list of Possible Causes. Z1 - Intermittent Test Procedure
