DP20 - VSS Drive Cycle Test
- Warm engine to operating temperature.
- Perform the VSS Drive Cycle at least three times as outlined below:
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSIONS:
- Place gear selector in DRIVE range.
- Obey all local traffic laws.
- Accelerate heavily to 35 mph.
- Coast down to an idle and stop the vehicle.
- Shut the Engine Off.
- After the drive cycle is completed, retrieve and record any Continuous Memory DTCs, address the DTCs in Diagnostic Subroutines. [1][2]Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Charts
- If no DTCs are generated, testing is complete.
MANUAL TRANSMISSIONS:
- Shift to second from first gear.
- Obey all traffic laws.
- Accelerate moderately to 40 mph.
- Coast down to an idle and stop the vehicle.
- After the drive cycle is completed, retrieve and record any Continuous Memory DTCs, address the DTCs in Diagnostic Subroutines. [1][2]Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) Charts
- If no DTCs are generated, testing is complete.
