Fan Shroud: Service and Repair



Remove Fan Shroud, Install

Shown On Engine 112:






DANGER:
- Risk of injury to skin and eyes suffering scalding from contact with hot coolant spray. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant.
- Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 degrees C. Open cap slowly and release the pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage bottles.
- Wear protective gloves, protective clothing and eye protection.



1 Release the excess pressure from the cooling system

NOTE: Rotate the cap (1) halfway through in the anti-clockwise direction, release the excess pressure and tightly screw on the cap.

2 Remove the left and the right air guide duct (2)
3 Separate the electrical connector (3) of the suction fan
4 Remove the rubber seal (4) in the upper frame crossmember (5) region
- Engine 113

5 Remove screws (6) and Turn the upper frame crossmember (5) by 180 degrees in the direction of travel
- Engine 113

6 Remove the left and the right flat spring (7)
7 Disconnect the coolant line (8) at the connecting element (9)

NOTE:
- Lock the connection at the connecting element with a drain plug.
- Engine 113: Unclip the coolant line (8) from the bracket at the fan shroud (10).
- Installation: Install new O-ring.


8 Loosen the coolant hose (11) from the brackets at the fan shroud (10)
9 Tilt the fan shroud (10) in the upward direction against the direction of travel and remove it

NOTE: Installation: Ensure that the retaining lugs of the fan shroud are inserted in the supports at the bottom of the radiator.

10 Install in the reverse order
11 Inspect coolant level
