Removing And Installing Oil Pan
1 Disconnect ground cable of battery, connect
DANGER:
- Risk of injury to skin and eyes from scalding with hot coolant which flashes out. Risk of poisoning from swallowing coolant
- Do not open cooling system unless coolant temperature is below 90 degrees C. Open cap slowly and release pressure. Do not pour coolant into beverage bottles.
- Wear protective gloves, protective clothes and eye protection.
2 Drain coolant
CAUTION: See notes on coolant.
3 Drain engine oil, pour in
4 Detach charge air lines on left and right
NOTE: Unclip charge air line on left at hot film mass air flow sensor, detach charge air line on right at compressor.
5 Remove intake air scoop
6 Remove air cleaner housing
7 Unbolt exhaust system at exhaust manifold
8 Unplug connector of oil level sensor (B40)
9 Detach coolant hoses at coolant thermostat housing
10 Pinch off oil return flow hose to power steering pump and detach hose
11 Unscrew bolts (5) at front engine mounts at bottom.
12 Raise engine
- Attach engine hoist to front and rear engine lifting eyes and raise engine evenly at front and rear.
13 Remove oil pan (1) together with oil pan gasket (2)
NOTE:
- Removal: Take oil pan (1) down and out indirection of travel.
- Installation: Clean sealing surfaces, replace oil pan gasket (2). Pay attention to different lengths and diameters of bolts.
CAUTION: Installation: Align oil pan (1) to rear contact surface on transmission. If the oil pan is not aligned to the transmission, this can result in noise and vibration problems.
14 Install in the reverse order
DANGER:
- Risk of accident from vehicle starting off by itself when engine running. Risk of injury from bruises and burns if you insert your hands into the engine when it is started or when it is running.
- Secure vehicle to prevent it starting off by itself.
- Wear closed and close-fitting work clothes.
- Do not grasp hot or rotating parts.
15 Run engine and inspect for leaks.
