Drive Belt: Service and Repair

Remove/Install Poly V-belt

Shown On Engine 112:

Remove
1 Remove viscous fan (1)

NOTE: Right-hand thread!

2 Remove fan shroud (2).

NOTE: On Model 163 unscrew bolts at bottom of fan shroud.

3 Loosen and remove the poly-V-belt (3)

NOTE: For this step, swivel stud bolt (4) at tensioning pulley (5) in anti-clockwise direction Lock tensioning pulley with drift or pin (5 mm diameter).

External Torx set: See "Special Tools" given below.

Inspect
4 Inspect belt pulley sections and tensioning device for damage and dirt
5 Inspect the poly-V-belt (3)


Install
6 Mount the poly-V-belt (3), then tighten

NOTE:
- Do not use belt wax or any similar products.
- Start at tensioning pulley in the numbered sequence of the respective running diagram: Running diagram of poly V-belt

7 Install fan shroud (2)
8 Install viscous fan (1)
