Removal and Replacement

REMOVAL
1. Remove cylinder head (87). [1][2]Procedures
2. Install cylinder head (87) on assembly board (24)
- Place insert (25) into assembly board (24) with the direction of travel arrow (26) facing forward and with the appropriate side.
- Bolt cylinder head (87) to the assembly board (24) at the front and rear with a cylinder head bolt (23) each, with front of cylinder head facing toward direction of travel arrow (26).
3. Attach supporting bridge (2) with slide (7), lever depressor (9) and thrust piece (5) to the cylinder head (87)
- Use 7x42 mm bolts
4. Remove valve springs (17)
- Use tweezers (arrow) or a magnetic finger to remove valve collets (14).
5. Remove valve stem seals (16)
6. Remove bottom valve spring retainer (20)
7. Examine top and bottom valve spring retainers (15 and 20)
- Examine valve spring retainers for pitting, replace if necessary.
8. Unbolt cylinder head (87) from assembly board (24), remove valves (21)
9. Examine surface of valve stems for roughness and burs (visual inspection or inspection with nail).
- Replace valves with rough stem surface or burs.
INSTALLATION
- Install in the reverse order, noting the following:
Oil valve stem seals before installing, press on by hand with assembly drift.
