Cooling System: Service and Repair
- Remove lower engine cover.- Open pressure cap on expansion tank in stages.
Warning:
Do Not open pressure cap until coolant temperature is below 90°C (194° F).
- Open drain plug at the bottom of the radiator.
^ Tightening Torque: 1.5 Nm (13 in lbs).
- Unscrew the crankcase drain plug,
^ Located on the right side of the engine block below the exhaust manifold.
^ Tightening torque: 30 Nm (22 ft lbs)
- Reinstall radiator drain plug and crankcase drain plug when system has finished draining.
- Fill with coolant mix to the markings on the expansion tank.
- Switch on heater and run engine until warm.
NOTE: Replace cap on expansion tank from a coolant temperature of approx. 60-70° C (140-158° F).
- Check cooling system for leaks.
- Check and correct coolant level after engine has cooled down.
