Installation

WIPER AND WASHER: FRONT WIPER MOTOR: INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER MOTOR ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the windshield wiper motor assembly with the 3 bolts.

Torque : 5.5 Nm (56 kgf-cm, 49 in-lbf)

2. INSTALL FRONT WIPER CRANK SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Check the automatic stop position.

(1) Check that the motor stops automatically at the automatic stop position Testing and Inspection.

(b) Temporarily install the front wiper crank sub-assembly to the windshield wiper motor assembly with the nut.

(d) Align the front wiper crank sub-assembly with the wiper link as shown in the illustration.

(e) Tighten the front wiper crank sub-assembly nut.

Torque : 17 Nm (175 kgf-cm, 13 ft-lbf)

(f) Apply MP grease to the front wiper crank pivot.

(g) Install the wiper link to the front wiper crank pivot.

3. INSTALL WIPER MOTOR COVER

(a) Install the wiper motor cover.

4. INSTALL WINDSHIELD WIPER LINK ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the wiper motor and link assembly with the 4 bolts.

Torque : 5.5 Nm (56 kgf-cm, 49 in-lbf)

(b) Connect the connector. Then attach the 2 clamps to install the wire harness to the cowl top panel.

5. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Push the ventilator louver in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration to attach the 9 claws and 2 clips and install the ventilator louver.

6. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER PROTECTOR LH

(a) Attach the clip and cowl top ventilator louver protector LH.

7. INSTALL FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL LH

(a) Push the cowl side seal in the direction indicated by the arrow in the illustration to attach the 2 claws and install the cowl side seal.

8. INSTALL FRONT FENDER TO COWL SIDE SEAL RH

HINT
Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

9. INSTALL HOOD TO COWL TOP SEAL

(a) Attach the 11 clips and install the cowl top seal.

10. INSTALL FRONT FENDER PROTECTOR UPPER LH

(a) Attach the clips to install the fender protector upper.

11. INSTALL FRONT FENDER PROTECTOR UPPER RH

HINT
Use the same procedure described for the LH side.

14. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM LH

(a) Stop the wiper motor at the automatic stop position.

(b) Clean the wiper arm serration with a round file or equivalent.

(c) Clean the wiper pivot serration with a wire brush.

(d) Install the wiper arm and blade with the nut. Make sure that the wiper arm and blade comes to the position shown in the illustration.

Standard measurement:

Torque : 22 Nm (224 kgf-cm, 16 ft-lbf)

HINT
Hold down the wiper arm hinge with your hand while tightening the nut.

15. INSTALL FRONT WIPER ARM RH

(a) Stop the wiper motor at the automatic stop position.

Standard measurement:

Torque : 22 Nm (224 kgf-cm, 16 ft-lbf)

HINT
Hold down the wiper arm hinge with your hand while tightening the nut.

(e) Operate the front wipers while spraying washer fluid on the windshield glass. Make sure that the front wipers function properly and there is no interference with the vehicle body.

16. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

NOTICE:
When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected Repair Instruction - Initialization.

17. INSTALL COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH

(a) Install the 6 clips and cowl top ventilator louver RH.

NOTICE:
Be sure to install the cowl top ventilator louver RH properly. If it is not installed properly, water may enter the engine room and cause malfunctions.
