Propeller Shaft Assembly
PROPELLER SHAFT: PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 2GR-FSE 4WD): INSPECTION
1. INSPECT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY
(a) Using a dial indicator and V-blocks, inspect the runout of the propeller shaft assembly.
Maximum runout:
0.8 mm (0.0314 in.)
NOTICE:
The dial indicator must be set perpendicular to the center of the propeller shaft assembly.
HINT
If the shaft runout exceeds the maximum, replace the propeller shaft with center bearing assembly.
2. INSPECT INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY
(a) Using a dial indicator and V-blocks, inspect the runout of the intermediate shaft assembly.
Maximum runout:
0.8 mm (0.0314 in.)
NOTICE:
The dial indicator must be set perpendicular to the center of the intermediate shaft assembly.
HINT
If the shaft runout exceeds the maximum, replace the propeller shaft with center bearing assembly.
3. INSPECT SPIDER BEARING
(a) Check that the spider bearing rotates smoothly.
(b) Check that there is no play in the spider bearing.
HINT
If there is free play, replace the propeller shaft assembly as the spider bearing can not be disassembled.
4. INSPECT NO. 1 CENTER SUPPORT BEARING ASSEMBLY
(a) Turn the No. 1 center support bearing assembly by hand in the rotating direction. Check that the No. 1 center support bearing assembly turns smoothly.
(b) Check that the center support bracket of the No. 1 center support bearing assembly is not cracked or deformed.
(c) Check that the seals are not cracked or damaged.
HINT
If the No. 1 center support bearing assembly is damaged, worn, or does not turn smoothly, replace it.
