SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: SPIRAL CABLE: REMOVAL

1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION:
Be sure to read Precaution thoroughly before servicing Service Precautions.

NOTICE:

w/ Navigation System for HDD:

After the engine switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, make sure to wait at least 60 seconds before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

2. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD

3. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

(a) Disable the auto tilt away function by changing the customize parameter Power Tilt and Power Telescopic Steering Column System.

NOTICE:
Record the current customize parameter setting (whether the auto tilt away function is enabled or disabled) in order to restore the current setting after finishing this operation.

HINT
Performing the above operation disables the auto tilt away function when the engine switch is turned off.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG). Operate the tilt and telescopic switch to fully extend and lower the steering column assembly.

(c) Turn the engine switch off and disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

4. REMOVE LOWER NO. 3 STEERING WHEEL COVER Removal

5. REMOVE LOWER NO. 2 STEERING WHEEL COVER Removal

6. REMOVE STEERING PAD Removal

7. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY Removal

8. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (for Lower Side) Removal

9. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER (for Upper Side) Removal

10. REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE WITH STEERING ANGLE SENSOR

(a) Disconnect the yellow airbag connector from the spiral cable with steering angle sensor.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

(b) Disconnect the other connector from the spiral cable with steering angle sensor.

(c) Disengage the 3 claws to remove the spiral cable with steering angle sensor.





11. REMOVE SPIRAL CABLE

(a) Disengage the 6 claws and 2 pins to remove the spiral cable from the steering angle sensor.
