Removal





PARKING BRAKE: PARKING BRAKE LEVER: REMOVAL

1. PRECAUTION

CAUTION:
Be sure to read the "PRECAUTION" thoroughly before servicing Service Precautions.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

3. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY (for Standard Type Power Seat)

Removal

4. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY (for Sports Type Power Seat)

Removal

5. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY (for Manual Seat)

Removal

6. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY Removal

7. REMOVE FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY

Removal

8. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH Removal

9. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH Removal

10. REMOVE CENTER PILLAR GARNISH LOWER LH Removal

11. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH Removal

12. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

13. REMOVE REAR CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

14. REMOVE FRONT CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal

15. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL BOX ASSEMBLY (w/o Ashtray) Removal

16. REMOVE FRONT ASH RECEPTACLE BOX SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Ashtray) Removal

17. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX REGISTER ASSEMBLY (w/o Ashtray) Removal

18. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX REGISTER ASSEMBLY (w/ Ashtray) Removal

19. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX Removal

20. REMOVE NO. 2 CONSOLE BOX DUCT Removal

21. REMOVE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY Removal

22. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR REAR UPPER SUB PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Turn back the floor carpet in order to remove the front floor rear upper sub panel.





(b) Disengage the 6 clamps.

(c) Remove the 4 bolts and front floor rear upper sub panel.

23. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT WITH CENTER BEARING ASSEMBLY

Removal

24. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE LEVER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Using needle-nose pliers, remove the parking brake return with damper spring.





(b) Remove the 2 bolts and separate the 2 No. 2 parking brake cable assemblies from the parking brake equalizer.





(c) Slide the rubber boot as shown in the illustration.





(d) Remove the parking brake equalizer from the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly.





(e) Remove the 2 bolts and separate the No.1parking brake cable assembly.





(f) Disconnect the parking brake switch connector.





(g) Remove the 2 bolts and parking brake lever.





(h) Pull up the parking brake lever claw.





(i) Remove the lock nut and No. 1 wire adjusting nut of the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake lever.

(j) Remove the clip and No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake lever.
