Hydraulic Control Assembly - Antilock Brakes: Testing and Inspection

BRAKE CONTROL: BRAKE ACTUATOR: ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION

1. CONNECT TECHSTREAM

(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.

(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).

(c) Turn the Techstream on.

(d) Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/ TRAC / Active Test.

HINT
* Refer to the Techstream operator's manual for further details.
* The engine switch must be turned on (IG) to proceed to the Active Test using the Techstream.

2. INSPECT ACTUATOR MOTOR OPERATION

(a) Enter the following menus: Chassis / ABS/VSC/ TRAC / Active Test / Motor Relay.

(b) With the motor relay on, check the actuator motor operation noise.

HINT
If the operation noise cannot be heard, replace the brake actuator assembly because the motor operation is abnormal.

(c) Turn the motor relay off.

(d) Depress the brake pedal and hold it for approximately 15 seconds. Check that the brake pedal cannot be depressed further.

(e) With the motor relay on, check that the pedal does not pulsate.

NOTICE:
Do not keep the motor relay on continuously for more than 5 seconds. When operating it repeatedly, set an interval of more than 20 seconds.

(f) Turn the motor relay off and release the brake pedal.

3. INSPECT FRONT RIGHT WHEEL OPERATION

NOTICE:
Do not turn on a solenoid in a manner different than described below.

(a) Depress the brake pedal and hold it.

(b) Turn the SFRH and SFRR solenoids on.

(c) Turn the SFRH and SFRR solenoids off simultaneously, and check that the pedal can be depressed.

NOTICE:
Do not keep the solenoids on continuously for more than 10 seconds. When operating them repeatedly, set an interval of more than 20 seconds.

(d) Turn the motor relay on, and check that the pedal returns.

NOTICE:
Do not keep the motor relay on continuously for more than 5 seconds. When operating it continuously, set an interval of more than 20 seconds.

(e) Turn the motor relay off and release the brake pedal.

4. INSPECT OTHER WHEEL OPERATION

(a) Using the same procedure, check the solenoids of the other wheels.

* Left front wheel: SRRH, SFLR
* Right rear wheel: SRRH, SRRR
* Left rear wheel: SRLH, SRLR
