Removal





AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL: REAR AXLE CARRIER: REMOVAL

NOTICE:
When the brake pedal is first depressed after replacing the brake pads or pushing back the disc brake piston, DTC C1214 may be output. As there is no malfunction, clear the DTC.

HINT
* Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
* The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

1. PRECAUTION (w/ Navigation System)

NOTICE:
After the power switch is turned off, the display and navigation module display (HDD navigation system) records various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the power switch off, make sure to wait at least 60 seconds before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

2. REMOVE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR MAT Removal

3. DISABLE BRAKE CONTROL Removal

4. REMOVE REAR WHEEL

5. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION ARM COVER Removal

6. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER LH (for LH Side) Removal

7. REMOVE REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER RH (for RH Side) Removal

8. SEPARATE REAR SPEED SENSOR WIRE Removal

9. REMOVE REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Height Control Sensor) Removal

10. SEPARATE REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY Removal

11. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG Removal

12. REMOVE REAR DISC Removal

13. REMOVE REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY Removal

14. SEPARATE PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 3 bolts, and separate the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly.





(b) Remove the nut, and separate the parking brake assembly from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.





NOTICE:
Use wire or an equivalent tool to keep the parking brake assembly from hanging down by the parking brake cable.

15. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY Removal

16. REMOVE REAR AXLE CARRIER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Loosen the 2 bolts (A), bolt (B) and bolt (C).

NOTICE:
* Since the stopper nuts are used, turn the bolts.
* Do not remove the bolts.

(b) Using a jack and wooden block, jack up the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly to replicate standard vehicle height conditions.

CAUTION:
Do not jack up the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly too high as the vehicle may fall.

(c) Remove the 2 bolts (A), and separate the rear trailing arm assembly from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.

(d) Remove the bolt (B), nut and No. 2 flexible hose bracket, and then separate the rear upper control arm assembly from the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.

NOTICE:
Since the stopper nut is used, turn the bolt.

(e) Remove the bolt (C), nut and rear axle carrier sub-assembly from the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly.

NOTICE:
Since the stopper nut is used, turn the bolt.
