Installation





AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL: REAR AXLE CARRIER: INSTALLATION

HINT
* Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
* The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

1. INSTALL REAR AXLE CARRIER SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Hold the rear axle carrier sub-assembly between aluminium plates in a vise.





NOTICE:
Do not overtighten the vise.

(b) Using a brass bar and a hammer, push out the bushing until it is positioned as shown in the illustration.

HINT
Pushing out the bushing makes it easier to install the rear axle carrier sub-assembly.

(c) Using a jack and wooden block, jack up the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly to replicate standard vehicle height conditions.

CAUTION:
Do not jack up the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly too high as the vehicle may fall.

(d) Temporarily install the rear axle carrier sub-assembly to the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly with the bolt (C) and nut.

NOTICE:
* Insert the bolt with the threaded end facing the front of the vehicle.
* Since the stopper nut is used, turn the bolt.

(e) Temporarily install the rear axle carrier sub-assembly and No. 2 flexible hose bracket to the rear upper control arm assembly with the bolt (B) and nut.

NOTICE:
* Insert the bolt with the threaded end facing the rear of the vehicle.
* Since the stopper nut is used, turn the bolt.

(f) Install the rear axle carrier sub-assembly to the rear trailing arm assembly with the 2 bolts (A).

Torque : 200 Nm (2039 kgf-cm, 148 ft-lbf)

(g) Fully tighten the bolt (B) and bolt (C).

Torque : 90 Nm (918 kgf-cm, 66 ft-lbf)

NOTICE:
Since the stopper nuts are used, turn the bolts.

(h) Slowly lower the rear No. 2 suspension arm assembly.

2. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY Installation

3. TEMPORARILY TIGHTEN PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY

(a) Clean the installation surfaces of the parking brake assembly and rear axle carrier sub-assembly.

(b) Temporarily tighten the parking brake assembly to the rear axle carrier sub-assembly with the nut.

NOTICE:
Do not twist the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly when installing the parking brake assembly.

HINT
Fully tighten the nut after installing the rear axle hub and bearing assembly.

(c) Install the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly with the 3 bolts.





Torque : 6.0 Nm (61 kgf-cm, 53 in-lbf)

NOTICE:
Make sure that the 3 guides of the No. 3 parking brake cable assembly are inserted.

4. INSTALL REAR AXLE HUB AND BEARING ASSEMBLY Installation

5. FULLY TIGHTEN PARKING BRAKE ASSEMBLY

(a) Fully tighten the nut.





Torque : 140 Nm (1428 kgf-cm, 103 ft-lbf)

6. INSTALL REAR DISC Installation

7. INSTALL REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY Installation

8. INSTALL REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY (w/ Height Control Sensor) Installation

9. INSTALL REAR SPEED SENSOR WIRE Installation

10. ADJUST PARKING BRAKE

Adjustments

11. INSTALL PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG Installation

12. STABILIZE SUSPENSION Installation

13. FULLY TIGHTEN REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY Installation

14. INSTALL REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER LH (for LH Side) Installation

15. INSTALL REAR FLOOR SIDE MEMBER COVER RH (for RH Side) Installation

16. INSTALL REAR SUSPENSION ARM COVER Installation

17. INSTALL REAR WHEEL

Torque : 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf)

18. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

(a) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal and close the front luggage compartment trim cover.

(b) Perform the following procedure if air bleeding is not necessary:

(1) Connect the reservoir level switch connector.

(2) Clear the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.

19. INSTALL LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT FLOOR MAT Installation

20. INSPECT AND ADJUST REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT

Rear Wheel Alignment

21. HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR SIGNAL INITIALIZATION (w/ Height Control Sensor)

Initialization

22. INSPECT AND ADJUST HEADLIGHT AIMING (w/ Height Control Sensor)

(for LED Headlight)

23. CHECK FOR SPEED SENSOR SIGNAL
