AXLE AND DIFFERENTIAL: FRONT AXLE HUB BOLT: REPLACEMENT

NOTICE:
When the brake pedal is first depressed after replacing the brake pads or pushing back the disc brake piston, DTC C1214 may be output. As there is no malfunction, clear the DTC.

HINT
* Use the same procedure for the RH side and LH side.
* The procedure listed below is for the LH side.

1. PRECAUTION

NOTICE:
After turning the power switch off, waiting time may be required before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, Therefore, make sure to read the disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal notice before proceeding with work. Service Precautions

2. DISABLE BRAKE CONTROL Removal

3. REMOVE FRONT WHEEL

4. SEPARATE FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and separate the front disc brake caliper assembly.

NOTICE:
Use wire or an equivalent tool to keep the front disc brake caliper assembly from hanging down by the flexible hose.

5. REMOVE FRONT DISC Removal

6. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB BOLT

(a) Temporarily install 2 nuts to the front axle hub bolts as shown in the illustration.

Recommended service nut:

Thread diameter: 12.0 mm (0.472 in.)

Thread pitch: 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.)

NOTICE:
Install the nuts to prevent damage to the hub bolts.

(b) Using SST and a screwdriver or an equivalent tool to hold the front axle hub, remove the front axle hub bolt.

SST : 09611-12010

NOTICE:
Do not damage the threads of the front axle hub bolts.

7. INSTALL FRONT AXLE HUB BOLT

(a) Install a washer and service nut to a new front axle hub bolt as shown in the illustration.

Recommended service nut:

Thread diameter: 12.0 mm (0.472 in.)

Thread pitch: 1.5 mm (0.0591 in.)

HINT
Recommended thickness of the washer is 5 mm (0.197 in.) or more.

(b) Using a screwdriver or an equivalent tool to hold the front axle hub, install the hub bolt by tightening the nut.

NOTICE:
* Install the nuts to prevent damage to the front axle hub bolts.
* Do not damage the threads of the front axle hub bolts.

(c) Remove the 3 nuts and washer from the 3 front axle hub bolts.

8. INSTALL FRONT DISC Installation

9. INSTALL FRONT DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY

(a) Install the front disc brake caliper assembly to the steering knuckle with the 2 bolts.

Torque : 137 Nm (1394 kgf-cm, 101 ft-lbf)

NOTICE:
Do not twist the flexible hose when installing the front disc brake caliper assembly.

10. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL

Torque : 103 Nm (1050 kgf-cm, 76 ft-lbf)

11. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

(a) Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal Installation.

(b) Connect the reservoir level switch connector.

(c) Clear the DTCs Reading and Clearing Diagnostic Trouble Codes.
