Removal
HEATING / AIR CONDITIONING: AIR CONDITIONING UNIT: REMOVAL
1. RECOVER REFRIGERANT FROM AIR CONDITIONING SYSTEM Service and Repair
2. DISCONNECT SUCTION PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the bolt and slide the hook connector.
(b) Disconnect the suction pipe sub-assembly.
(c) Remove the O-ring from the suction pipe sub-assembly.
NOTICE:
Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.
3. DISCONNECT AIR CONDITIONING TUBE AND ACCESSORY ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect the air conditioning tube and accessory assembly.
(b) Remove the O-ring from the air conditioning tube and accessory assembly.
NOTICE:
Seal the openings of the disconnected parts using vinyl tape to prevent entry of moisture and foreign matter.
4. DISCONNECT OUTLET HEATER WATER HOSE
(a) Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the outlet heater water hose.
NOTICE:
* Do not apply excessive force to the outlet heater water hose.
* Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.
5. DISCONNECT INLET HEATER WATER HOSE
(a) Using pliers, grip the claws of the clip and slide the clip to disconnect the inlet heater water hose.
NOTICE:
* Do not apply excessive force to the inlet heater water hose.
* Prepare a drain pan or cloth in case the coolant leaks.
6. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY
Removal
7. REMOVE POWER STEERING ECU ASSEMBLY Removal
8. SEPARATE BRAKE PEDAL SUPPORT ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the bolt and separate the brake pedal support assembly from the instrument panel reinforcement.
9. REMOVE STOP LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY Removal
10. REMOVE STOP LIGHT SWITCH MOUNTING ADJUSTER
11. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD
12. REMOVE HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY
Removal
13. REMOVE STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY Removal
14. REMOVE STEERING COLUMN COVER Removal
15. REMOVE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
16. REMOVE NO. 1 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Disengage the 2 claws and remove the No. 1 air duct sub-assembly.
17. REMOVE COLUMN HOLE COVER SILENCER SHEET Removal
18. SEPARATE NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY Removal
19. REMOVE STEERING POST ASSEMBLY Removal
20. REMOVE WINDSHIELD WIPER RELAY ASSEMBLY Removal
21. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Remove the bolt, nut and center instrument panel reinforcement sub-assembly.
22. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Disconnect each connector.

(b) Disengage each clamp.
(c) Remove the bolt and disconnect the earth wire.
(d) Remove the screw.
(e) Remove the bolt, nut and No. 1 instrument panel brace sub-assembly.
23. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL BRACE SUB-ASSEMBLY
(a) Disengage each clamp.

(b) Remove the bolt and disconnect the earth wire.
(c) Remove the screw.
(d) Remove the bolt, nut and No. 2 instrument panel brace sub-assembly.
24. REMOVE REAR NO. 2 AIR DUCT
(a) Disengage the 6 claws and remove the rear No. 2 air duct.
25. REMOVE REAR NO. 1 AIR DUCT
(a) Disengage the 4 claws and remove the rear No. 1 air duct.
26. REMOVE NO. 2 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT
(a) Remove the 3 clips and No. 2 heater to register duct.
27. REMOVE LOWER DEFROSTER NOZZLE ASSEMBLY
(a) Disengage each clamp.
(b) Remove the 2 clips.
(c) Disengage the 6 claws and remove the lower defroster nozzle assembly.
28. REMOVE CENTER INSTRUMENT PANEL TO COWL BRACE
(a) Remove the 2 bolts.
(b) Disengage the guide and remove the center instrument panel to cowl brace.
29. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL JUNCTION BLOCK ASSEMBLY Removal
30. REMOVE ECU INTEGRATION BOX RH Removal
31. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL REINFORCEMENT
(a) Disconnect the center airbag sensor connectors from the center airbag sensor assembly as shown in the illustration.
NOTICE:
When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
(b) Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the 2 earth wires.
(c) Remove the 3 bolts.
(d) w/ PTC Heater:
(1) Disconnect the 2 connectors.
(e) Disconnect each connector.
(f) Disengage each clamp.

(g) Remove the 8 bolts and instrument panel reinforcement.
32. REMOVE AIR CONDITIONING UNIT ASSEMBLY
NOTICE:
* Be sure to support the air conditioning unit assembly when removing it because failure to do so may cause brackets of the air conditioning unit assembly to break.
* When disassembling the air conditioning unit, eliminate static electricity by touching the vehicle body to prevent electrical components from being damaged.
(a) Disengage the cooler drain hose.
(b) Remove the bolt, nut and air conditioning unit assembly.
