Removal





SUPPLEMENTAL RESTRAINT SYSTEMS: FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

1. REMOVE NO. 1 CONSOLE BOX DUCT

HINT
Refer to the procedure up to Remove No. 1 Console Box Duct Removal.

2. DISCONNECT NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE

(a) Check that the engine switch is off.

(b) Check that the cable is disconnected from the negative (-) battery terminal.

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

(c) Slide the slider to release the lock, and then disconnect the connector.

NOTICE:
When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.

3. REMOVE INSTRUMENT PANEL SAFETY PAD ASSEMBLY Removal

4. REMOVE NO. 3 HEATER TO REGISTER DUCT Disassembly

5. REMOVE NO. 2 SIDE DEFROSTER NOZZLE DUCT Disassembly

6. REMOVE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG ASSEMBLY

CAUTION:
When storing the front passenger airbag assembly, keep the airbag deployment side facing upward.

(a) Remove the 2 screws.





(b) Disengage the 5 hooks (A).





(c) Disengage the 5 hooks (B) to remove the front passenger airbag assembly from the instrument panel safety pad assembly as shown in the illustration.

7. REMOVE NO. 2 INSTRUMENT PANEL WIRE

(a) Disengage the 2 clamps.





(b) Using a screwdriver with the tip wrapped with protective tape, release the airbag connector locks.





(c) Disconnect the 2 airbag connectors to remove the No. 2 instrument panel wire from the front passenger airbag assembly.

When disconnecting any airbag connector, take care not to damage the airbag wire harness.
