2GR-FSE INTAKE / EXHAUST: EXHAUST PIPE: INSTALLATION

1. INSTALL TAIL EXHAUST PIPE BAFFLE SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Align the concave on the baffle with the protruding part of the tail exhaust pipe assembly as shown in the illustration.

(b) Using a plastic hammer, uniformly tap the tail exhaust pipe baffle sub-assemblies onto the tail exhaust pipe assembly.

(c) Check that the concave on the baffle is aligned with the protruding part on the bottom of the tail exhaust pipe assembly as shown in the illustration.

HINT
Adjust the baffle if necessary.

2. INSTALL EXHAUST PIPE DAMPER

(a) Install the exhaust pipe damper with the 2 bolts.





Torque : 19 Nm (194 kgf-cm, 14 ft-lbf)

3. INSTALL TAIL EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

(a) Connect the tail exhaust pipe assembly to the 6 exhaust pipe supports.





4. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

(a) Using a vernier caliper, measure the free length of the compression springs.









HINT
If the free length is less than minimum, replace the compression spring.

(b) Fully insert a new gasket to the front exhaust pipe assembly.

(c) Using a plastic hammer and wooden block, tap in the new gasket until its surface is flush with the front exhaust pipe assembly.

NOTICE:
* Be careful with the installation direction of the gasket.
* Do not reuse the gasket.
* Do not damage the gasket.
* Do not push in the gasket by using the exhaust pipe when connecting it.

(d) Install the 2 bolts, 2 compression springs, 2 new gaskets and front exhaust pipe assembly.

Torque : 43 Nm (440 kgf-cm, 32 ft-lbf)

(e) Install 4 new nuts and the 4 bolts.





Torque : 39 Nm (398 kgf-cm, 29 ft-lbf)

(f) Before installing the oxygen sensors, twist the sensor wires counterclockwise 4 turns.





(g) Using SST, install the oxygen sensors to the front exhaust pipe assembly.





SST : 09224-00010

without SST - Torque : 44 Nm (449 kgf-cm, 32 ft-lbf)

with SST - Torque : 40 Nm (408 kgf-cm, 30 ft-lbf)

NOTICE:
* The "with SST" torque value is effective when using SST with a fulcrum length of 30 mm (1.18 in.).
* The "with SST" torque value is effective when using a torque wrench with a fulcrum length of 300 mm (11.81 in.) Service Precautions.
* This torque value is effective when SST is parallel to the torque wrench.

(h) After installing the sensors, check that the sensor wires are not twisted.

If the sensor wires are twisted, reinstall them.

(i) Install the grommets of the oxygen sensors.

11. INSPECT FOR EXHAUST GAS LEAK
