DRIVE SHAFT / PROPELLER SHAFT: FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

1. REMOVE FRONT WHEELS

2. DRAIN HYBRID TRANSAXLE FLUID Procedures

3. SEPARATE FRONT SPEED SENSOR LH

(a) Remove bolt B, bolt C and the clamp, and separate the front speed sensor LH and front flexible hose LH from the shock absorber and the steering knuckle.

NOTICE:
* Prevent foreign matter from adhering to the front speed sensor LH.
* Be careful not to damage the front speed sensor LH.

4. SEPARATE FRONT SPEED SENSOR RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

5. SEPARATE FRONT FLEXIBLE HOSE LH

(a) Remove bolt A and separate the flexible hose LH from the steering knuckle.

6. SEPARATE FRONT FLEXIBLE HOSE RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

7. SEPARATE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Removal

8. SEPARATE TIE ROD END SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

9. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB NUT LH

(a) Using SST and a hammer, release the staked part of the front axle hub nut LH.





SST : 09930-00010

NOTICE:
Loosen the staked part of the nut completely, otherwise the threads of the drive shaft may be damaged.

(b) While applying the brakes, remove the front axle hub nut LH.

10. REMOVE FRONT AXLE HUB NUT RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

11. SEPARATE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Remove the nut and separate the front stabilizer link assembly LH.

NOTICE:
If the ball joint turns together with the nut, use a hexagon wrench (6 mm) to hold the stud.

12. SEPARATE FRONT STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

13. SEPARATE FRONT NO. 1 LOWER SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Remove the bolt and 2 nuts, and separate the front No. 1 lower suspension arm sub-assembly LH from the lower ball joint LH.





14. SEPARATE FRONT NO. 1 LOWER SUSPENSION ARM SUB-ASSEMBLY RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

15. SEPARATE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Put matchmarks on the front drive shaft assembly LH and the front axle hub sub-assembly LH.

(b) Using a plastic hammer, separate the front drive shaft assembly LH from the front axle assembly LH.





NOTICE:
Be careful not to damage the front axle outboard joint boot and front speed sensor rotor.

16. SEPARATE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH

HINT
Use the same procedure as for the LH side.

17. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH

(a) Using SST, remove the front drive shaft assembly LH.

NOTICE:
* Do not damage the hybrid transaxle case oil seal.
* Do not damage the front axle inboard joint boot.
* Do not drop the front drive shaft assembly LH.

18. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY RH

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and pull out the front drive shaft assembly RH together with the drive shaft bearing case sub-assembly.





(b) Remove the front drive shaft assembly RH from the hybrid transaxle.

NOTICE:
* Do not damage the hybrid transaxle case oil seal.
* Do not damage the front axle inboard joint boot.
* Do not drop the front drive shaft assembly RH.

19. REMOVE FRONT DRIVE SHAFT LH HOLE SNAP RING (for LH Side)

(a) Using a screwdriver, remove the front drive shaft LH hole snap ring.
