Removal





A760E AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: TRANSMISSION WIRE: REMOVAL

1. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.

2. REMOVE NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER

3. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID

(a) Remove the drain plug and gasket, and drain the ATF.

(b) Install a new gasket and the drain plug.

Torque : 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf)

4. REMOVE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION OIL PAN SUB-ASSEMBLY

NOTICE:
Some fluid will remain in the oil pan.

(a) Remove the 20 bolts, oil pan, and gasket.





(b) Remove the 3 magnets from the oil pan.





(c) Examine particles in the pan.

(1) Collect any steel chips with the removed magnets.

Carefully look for foreign objects and particles in the pan and on the magnets to guess the type of wear which might be found in the transmission.

Steel (magnetic): bearing, gear, and clutch plate wear

Brass (non-magnetic): bush wear

5. REMOVE VALVE BODY OIL STRAINER ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 4 bolts and oil strainer.





NOTICE:
Be careful as some fluid will come out of the oil strainer.

(b) Remove the O-ring from the oil strainer.





6. DISCONNECT TRANSMISSION WIRE

(a) Remove the bolt and clamp, and disconnect the ATF temperature sensor.





(b) Remove the 2 bolts and disconnect the 2 clamps.





(c) Disconnect the 9 connectors from the solenoid valves.





7. REMOVE TRANSMISSION WIRE

(a) Disconnect the transmission wire connector.

(b) Remove the bolt and pull out the transmission wire.





(c) Remove the O-ring from the transmission wire.
