A760H AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION: AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

1. SEPARATE CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL

2. REMOVE ENGINE UNDER COVER

3. DRAIN COOLANT

Service and Repair

4. DRAIN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID

(a) Remove the drain plug and gasket, and drain the ATF.

(b) Install a new gasket and the drain plug.

Torque : 20 Nm (204 kgf-cm, 15 ft-lbf)

5. REMOVE FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY

Removal

6. REMOVE EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY LH

Removal

7. REMOVE STARTER ASSEMBLY Removal

8. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY FRONT

9. REMOVE PROPELLER W/ CENTER BEARING SHAFT ASSEMBLY

Removal

10. REMOVE DRIVE PLATE & TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH SETTING BOLT

(a) Turn the crankshaft to gain access to each bolt.





(b) Hold the crankshaft pulley bolt with a wrench and remove the 6 torque converter clutch setting bolts.

11. REMOVE EXHAUST PIPE NO. 1 SUPPORT BRACKET SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and exhaust pipe No. 1 support bracket sub-assembly from the automatic transmission assembly.





12. SEPARATE FLOOR SHIFT GEAR SHIFTING ROD SUB-ASSEMBLY

(a) Set the shift lever to the neutral position.

(b) Remove the nut and separate the floor shift gear shifting rod sub-assembly.





13. SUPPORT AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY

(a) Support the automatic transmission assembly with a transmission jack.





14. SEPARATE ENGINE REAR MOUNTING MEMBER

(a) Remove the 4 bolts and separate the engine rear mounting member from the body.





15. SEPARATE CONNECTOR

(a) Tilt down the automatic transmission assembly.





(b) Disconnect the neutral start switch connector, transmission wire connector and 2 transmission revolution sensor connectors.





HINT
Disengage the claw, press down the lever, and then disconnect the transmission wire connector (AT side).

16. SEPARATE WIRE HARNESS

(a) Remove the 4 bolts and separate the wire harness clamps from the automatic transmission assembly.





17. SEPARATE WATER BY-PASS HOSE

(a) Remove the bolt and water by-pass hose clamp.





(b) Separate the 2 water by-pass hoses from the transmission oil cooler.

18. REMOVE AUTOMATIC W/TRANSFER TRANSMISSION ASSEMBLY

(a) Remove the 9 bolts and automatic transmission assembly.





19. REMOVE ENGINE REAR MOUNTING MEMBER

(a) Remove the 3 bolts and engine rear mounting member from the automatic transmission assembly.





20. REMOVE ENGINE MOUNTING INSULATOR REAR NO. 1

(a) Remove the 3 bolts and engine mounting insulator rear No. 1 from the automatic transmission assembly.





21. REMOVE TRANSFER DYNAMIC DAMPER

(a) Remove the 2 bolts and dynamic damper from the automatic transmission assembly.





22. REMOVE TRANSMISSION CONTROL SHAFT LEVER LH

(a) Remove the nut and transmission control shaft lever LH from the neutral start switch assembly.





23. REMOVE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER

(a) Remove the 3 bolts, transmission oil cooler and spacer from the automatic transmission assembly.





(b) Remove the 4 O-rings from the valve body down shift plug spacer.





24. REMOVE TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY

(a) Put matchmarks on the torque converter and transmission case.





(b) Remove the torque converter from the automatic transmission assembly.

25. INSPECT TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH ASSEMBLY
