INSPECTION PROCEDURE

PROCEDURE

1. CHECK BUZZER (KEY UNLOCK WARNING, PARKING BRAKE WARNING, SEAT BELT WARNING)
(a) Check that all of the warning buzzers sound.
Result:






D -- GO TO KEY REMINDER WARNING SYSTEM
C -- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (WARNING BUZZER)
B -- PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (SEAT BELT WARNING BUZZER)
A -- Continue to next step.
2. CHECK BUZZER (OPEN DOOR WARNING, RETRACTABLE HARDTOP OPERATING WARNING)
(a) Check that all of the warning buzzers sound.
Result:






D -- GO TO RETRACTABLE HARDTOP SYSTEM
C -- CHECK FRONT MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU RH
B -- CHECK FRONT MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU LH
A -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (SEAT BELT WARNING BUZZER)
(a) Select the Active Test, use the Techstream to generate a control command, and then check that the seat belt warning buzzer sounds.
Combination meter:






OK:
Buzzer sounds normally.
NG -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT BUCKLE SWITCH)
(a) Check the Data List for proper functioning of the driver side seat belt buckle switch.
Driver side junction block ECU:






OK:
OFF is displayed when the driver side seat belt is unfastened.
OK -- CHECK OPERATION OF COMBINATION METER WITH A NEW OR NORMALLY FUNCTIONING COMBINATION METER
NG -- Continue to next step.
5. INSPECT FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY LH




(a) Remove the inner belt.
(b) Measure the resistance of the belt.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPLACE FRONT SEAT INNER BELT ASSEMBLY LH
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (INNER BELT - ECU AND BODY GROUND)




(a) Disconnect the B12 belt connector.
(b) Disconnect the D3 ECU connector.
(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK
7. CHECK OPERATION OF COMBINATION METER WITH A NEW OR NORMALLY FUNCTIONING COMBINATION METER
(a) Temporarily replace the combination meter with a new or normally functioning one.
(b) Check that the malfunction disappears.
OK:
Malfunction disappears.
NG -- REPLACE DRIVER SIDE JUNCTION BLOCK
OK -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
8. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (WARNING BUZZER)
(a) Select the Active Test, use the Techstream to generate a control command, and then check that the seat belt warning buzzer sounds.
Combination meter:






OK:
Buzzer sounds normally.
NG -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.
9. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (PARKING BRAKE SWITCH)
(a) Check the Data List for proper functioning of the parking brake switch.
Driver side junction block ECU:






OK:
ON (switch is on) is displayed on Techstream when parking brake is applied.
OK -- CHECK OPERATION OF COMBINATION METER WITH A NEW OR NORMALLY FUNCTIONING COMBINATION METER
NG -- Continue to next step.
10. INSPECT PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSEMBLY




(a) Remove the parking brake switch.
(b) Measure the resistance of the switch.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPLACE PARKING BRAKE SWITCH ASSEMBLY
OK -- Continue to next step.
11. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (ECU - PARKING BRAKE SWITCH)




(a) Disconnect the S6 ECU connector.
(b) Disconnect the P3 switch connector.
(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
12. CHECK OPERATION OF COMBINATION METER WITH A NEW OR NORMALLY FUNCTIONING COMBINATION METER
(a) Temporarily replace the combination meter with a new or normally functioning one.
(b) Check that the malfunction disappears.
OK:
Malfunction disappears.
NG -- REPLACE SKID CONTROL ECU
OK -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
13. CHECK FRONT MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU LH




(a) Remove the driver door ECU but do not disconnect the connector.
(b) Measure the voltage of the connector.
Standard voltage:






OK -- CHECK OPERATION OF COMBINATION METER WITH A NEW OR NORMALLY FUNCTIONING COMBINATION METER
NG -- Continue to next step.
14. INSPECT FRONT DOOR COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY LH (DRIVER SIDE)




(a) Remove the front door courtesy light switch.
(b) Measure the resistance of the switch.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPLACE FRONT DOOR COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY LH
OK -- Continue to next step.
15. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (ECU - COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH RH)




(a) Disconnect the D17 ECU connector.
(b) Disconnect the D8 switch connector.
(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE FRONT MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU LH
16. CHECK OPERATION OF COMBINATION METER WITH A NEW OR NORMALLY FUNCTIONING COMBINATION METER
(a) Temporarily replace the combination meter with a new or normally functioning one.
(b) Check that the malfunction disappears.
OK:
Malfunction disappears.
NG -- REPLACE FRONT MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU LH
OK -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
17. CHECK FRONT MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU RH




(a) Remove the passenger door ECU but do not disconnect the connector.
(b) Measure the voltage of the connector.
Standard voltage:






OK -- CHECK OPERATION OF COMBINATION METER WITH A NEW OR NORMALLY FUNCTIONING COMBINATION METER
NG -- Continue to next step.
18. INSPECT FRONT DOOR COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY RH




(a) Remove the front door courtesy light switch.
(b) Measure the resistance of the switch.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPLACE FRONT DOOR COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH ASSEMBLY RH
OK -- Continue to next step.
19. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (ECU - COURTESY LIGHT SWITCH RH)




(a) Disconnect the P9 ECU connector.
(b) Disconnect the D9 switch connector.
(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard resistance:






NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE FRONT MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU LH
20. CHECK OPERATION OF COMBINATION METER WITH A NEW OR NORMALLY FUNCTIONING COMBINATION METER
(a) Temporarily replace the combination meter with a new or normally functioning one.
(b) Check that the malfunction disappears.
OK:
Malfunction disappears.
NG -- REPLACE FRONT MULTIPLEX NETWORK DOOR ECU LH
OK -- REPLACE COMBINATION METER ASSEMBLY
