P0190

4GR-FSE ENGINE CONTROL SYSTEM: SFI SYSTEM: P0190: Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit

DTC P0190 - Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit

DTC P0192 - Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Low Input

DTC P0193 - Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit High Input

DESCRIPTION

The fuel pressure sensor is installed on the delivery pipe. The sensor changes fuel pressure to an electrical signal and sends the signal to the ECM. Then the ECM controls the feedback of the pump discharge to maintain the fuel's target pressure between 4 and 13 MPa (40.8 and 132.6 kgf/cm, 2580 and 1885 psi). If the sensor output stops, the ECM will stop the high pressure side fuel pump and supply fuel using the low pressure side fuel pump.

The fuel pressure sensor is installed on a fuel delivery pipe and detects the fuel pressure. It controls feedback of the pump discharge in order to keep the fuel within the target pressure range between 4 and 13 MPa (40.8 and 132.6 kgf/cm2, 580 and 1885 psi) by the ECM.

HINT:
After confirming DTC P0190, use Techstream to confirm the fuel pressure in the delivery pipe by following menus Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Fuel Press.

MONITOR DESCRIPTION

These DTCs are set if the fuel pressure sensor output voltage is out of the standard range. The DTCs stand for an open or short malfunction of the sensor circuit.
If these DTCs are set, the ECM enters fail-safe mode and limits the engine power. Fail-safe mode continues until the engine switch is turned off.

INSPECTION PROCEDURE
HINT:
- If different DTCs related to different systems that have terminal E2 as the ground terminal are output simultaneously, terminal E2 may have an open circuit.
- Read freeze frame data using Techstream. The ECM records vehicle and driving condition information as freeze frame data the moment a DTC is stored. When troubleshooting, freeze frame data can be helpful in determining whether the vehicle was running or stopped, whether the engine was warmed up or not, whether the air/fuel ratio was lean or rich, as well as other data recorded at the time of a malfunction Freeze Frame Data.

PROCEDURE

1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (FUEL PRESSURE)
(a) Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Start the engine.
(c) Turn Techstream on.
(d) Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine and ECT / Data List / Fuel Press.
(e) Read the values.
Pressure:
4 to 13 MPa (40.8 to 132.6 kgf/cm2, 580 to 1885 psi).
Result:

HINT:
*: The value must be changed when the engine is running or stopped.

C -- CHECK FOR INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS
B -- INSPECT ECM (PR VOLTAGE)
A -- Continue to next step.
2. INSPECT FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR (VC VOLTAGE)

(a) Disconnect the E37 fuel pressure sensor connector.
(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG).
(c) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:

NG -- CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR)
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. INSPECT ECM (PR VOLTAGE)

(a) Start the engine.
(b) Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard voltage:

HINT:

(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
Standard resistance (Check for open):

Standard resistance (Check for short):

(d) Reconnect the ECM connector.
(e) Reconnect the fuel pressure sensor connector.
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
OK -- REPLACE ECM
5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ECM - FUEL PRESSURE SENSOR)

(a) Disconnect the E37 fuel pressure sensor connector.
(b) Disconnect the E6 ECM connector.
(c) Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.
