Removal








PARKING BRAKE: PARKING BRAKE PEDAL: REMOVAL

REMOVAL

1. PRECAUTION
CAUTION:
Be sure to read the "PRECAUTION" thoroughly before servicing Service Precautions.

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION:
Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to disable the SRS system.

3. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY (for Power Seat) Removal
4. REMOVE FRONT SEAT ASSEMBLY (for Manual Seat) Removal
5. REMOVE REAR SEAT CUSHION ASSEMBLY Removal
6. DISCONNECT FRONT SEAT OUTER BELT ASSEMBLY Removal
7. REMOVE FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH Removal
8. REMOVE REAR DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH Removal
9. REMOVE CENTER LOWER PILLAR GARNISH LH Removal
10. REMOVE FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH Removal
11. REMOVE SHIFT LEVER KNOB SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
12. REMOVE NO. 1 UPPER CONSOLE PANEL GARNISH Removal
13. REMOVE NO. 2 UPPER CONSOLE PANEL GARNISH Removal
14. REMOVE CONSOLE PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
15. REMOVE FRONT ASH RECEPTACLE ASSEMBLY Removal
16. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX REGISTER ASSEMBLY Removal
17. REMOVE CONSOLE BOX Removal
18. REMOVE SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL LH Removal
19. REMOVE NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL UNDER COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
20. REMOVE LOWER INSTRUMENT FINISH PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY Removal
21. REMOVE DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY Removal
22. REMOVE ACCELERATOR PEDAL (for 2WD)
HINT:
Removal.

23. REMOVE FRONT FLOOR SILENCER PAD (for 2WD)
Remove the front floor silencer pad.
24. REMOVE NO. 2 REAR AIR DUCT Removal
25. REMOVE FRONT PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY (for 4WD)
HINT:
Removal.

26. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT WITH CENTER BEARING ASSEMBLY (for 2GR-FSE)
HINT:
Refer to the procedures up to "REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY" Removal.

27. REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT WITH CENTER BEARING ASSEMBLY (for 4GR-FSE)
HINT:
Refer to the procedures up to "REMOVE PROPELLER SHAFT ASSEMBLY" Removal.

28. REMOVE NO. 3 DASH PANEL INSULATOR PAD
Remove the No. 3 dash panel insulator pad.
29. REMOVE CENTER AIRBAG SENSOR ASSEMBLY Removal
30. REMOVE FRONT UPPER FLOOR REAR SUB PANEL





(a) Turn back the floor carpet in order to remove the front floor rear upper sub panel.
(b) Disengage the 6 clamps.
(c) Remove the 4 bolts and front floor rear upper sub panel.
31. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY (for 2WD)





(a) Remove the parking brake return with damper spring.





(b) Remove the 2 bolts and separate the 2 No. 2 parking brake cable assemblies from the parking brake equalizer.





(c) Slide the rubber boot as shown in the illustration.





(d) Remove the parking brake equalizer from the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly.
(e) Remove the 2 bolts and 3 nuts, and separate the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the body.









(f) Remove the 2 nuts and separate the instrument panel junction block assembly.





(g) Disconnect the parking brake switch connector.
(h) Remove the 3 nuts and parking brake pedal from the body.





(i) Pull up the parking brake pedal claw.
(j) Remove the lock nut and No. 1 wire adjusting nut of the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake pedal.
(k) Remove the clip and No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake pedal.
32. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE PEDAL ASSEMBLY (for 4WD)





(a) Remove the parking brake return with damper spring.





(b) Remove the 2 bolts and separate the 2 No. 2 parking brake cable assemblies from the parking brake equalizer.





(c) Slide the rubber boot as shown in the illustration.





(d) Remove the parking brake equalizer from the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly.
(e) Remove the 2 bolts and 3 nuts, and separate the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the body.









(f) Remove the 2 nuts and separate the instrument panel junction block assembly.





(g) Disconnect the parking brake switch connector.
(h) Remove the 3 nuts and parking brake pedal from the body.





(i) Pull up the parking brake pedal claw.
(j) Remove the lock nut and No. 1 wire adjusting nut of the No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake pedal.
(k) Remove the clip and No. 1 parking brake cable assembly from the parking brake pedal.
33. REMOVE PARKING PEDAL PAD





(a) Disengage the claw and remove the perking pedal pad from the parking brake pedal.
