INSPECTION PROCEDURE
PROCEDURE
1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM
(a) Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
(b) Turn the engine switch on (IG) and turn the Techstream on.
(c) Select the items below in the DATA LIST, and read the displays on the Techstream.
AFS (AFS ECU)
OK:
Condition sign can be displayed.
Result:
C -- CHECK WIRE HARNESS (FRONT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR CIRCUIT)
B -- REPLACE AFS ECU
A -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
2. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (FRONT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR CIRCUIT)
(a) Disconnect the A20or q4 height control sensor connector.
(b) Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.
Standard voltage:
2GR-FSE
1UR-FSE
NG -- CHECK AFS ECU
OK -- Continue to next step.
3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (REAR HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR CIRCUIT)
(a) Disconnect the o2 height control sensor connector.
(b) Measure the voltage of the wire harness side connector.
Standard voltage:
NG -- CHECK AFS ECU
OK -- Continue to next step.
4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (AFS ECU - HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR FRONT)
(a) Disconnect the A28 AFS ECU connector.
(b) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard resistance:
2GR-FSE
1UR-FSE
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
5. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (AFS ECU - HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR REAR)
(a) Disconnect the o2 sensor connector.
(b) Disconnect the A29 AFS ECU connector.
(c) Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.
Standard resistance:
NG -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
OK -- Continue to next step.
6. INSPECT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR (FRONT LH)
(a) Connect the 3 dry cell batteries (1.5 V) in series.
(b) Remove the height control sensor assembly front.
(c) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 3 and the negative (-) lead from the battery to terminal 1.
(d) Measure the voltage between terminals 2 and 1 while slowly moving the link up and down.
Standard voltage:
NG -- REPLACE HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR (FRONT LH)
OK -- Continue to next step.
7. INSPECT HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR (REAR LH)
(a) Connect the 3 dry cell batteries (1.5 V) in series.
(b) Remove the height control sensor assembly rear.
(c) Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 3 and the negative (-) lead from the battery to terminal 1.
(d) Measure the voltage between terminals 2 and 1 while slowly moving the link up and down.
Standard voltage:
Result:
C -- REPLACE HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR (REAR LH)
B -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
A -- REPLACE AFS ECU
8. CHECK AFS ECU
(a) Measure the voltage of the connector.
Standard voltage:
Result:
C -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
B -- REPLACE AFS ECU
A -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AFS ECU - HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR FRONT)
9. CHECK AFS ECU
(a) Measure the voltage of the connector.
Standard voltage:
Result:
C -- PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
B -- REPLACE AFS ECU
A -- REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (AFS ECU - HEIGHT CONTROL SENSOR REAR)
