Removal








DRIVE SHAFT: REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY: REMOVAL

REMOVAL

1. REMOVE COWL TOP VENTILATOR LOUVER RH Removal

2. DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL
CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
NOTE: After the engine switch is turned off, the HDD navigation system requires approximately 6 minutes to record various types of memory and settings. As a result, after turning the engine switch off, wait 6 minutes or more before disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal.

3. REMOVE REAR WHEEL
4. INSPECT REAR UPPER NO. 1 CONTROL ARM BALL JOINT RATTLE On-Vehicle Inspection

5. INSPECT REAR UPPER NO. 2 CONTROL ARM BALL JOINT RATTLE On-Vehicle Inspection

6. INSPECT REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM BALL JOINT RATTLE On-Vehicle Inspection

7. INSPECT TOE CONTROL LINK BALL JOINT RATTLE On-Vehicle Inspection

8. DISCONNECT LOAD SENSING VALVE SENSOR BRACKET LH






(a) Remove the bolt and disconnect the sensor bracket.
9. DISCONNECT LOAD SENSING VALVE SENSOR BRACKET RH (w/ Air Suspension)
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

10. REMOVE NO. 2 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR






(a) Remove the 3 nuts and support protector.
11. REMOVE NO. 1 DIFFERENTIAL SUPPORT PROTECTOR






(a) Remove the 3 nuts and support protector.
12. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE LH






(a) Remove the 2 bolts and rear suspension member brace.
13. REMOVE REAR SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE RH






(a) Remove the 2 bolts and rear suspension member brace.
14. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT LH Removal

15. REMOVE REAR AXLE SHAFT NUT RH

16. REMOVE REAR SPEED SENSOR LH






(a) Remove the 2 bolts and rear speed sensor.
17. REMOVE PAD WEAR INDICATOR WIRE (for RH Side) Removal

18. REMOVE REAR SPEED SENSOR RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

19. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING HOLE PLUG
20. DISCONNECT REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY LH Disassembly

21. DISCONNECT REAR DISC BRAKE CALIPER ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

22. REMOVE REAR DISC Disassembly

23. REMOVE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN SPRING Disassembly

24. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE RETURN SPRING Disassembly

25. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE ADJUSTING SCREW SET Disassembly

26. REMOVE NO. 2 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY Disassembly

27. REMOVE NO. 1 PARKING BRAKE SHOE ASSEMBLY Disassembly

28. REMOVE PARKING BRAKE SHOE LEVER Disassembly

29. REMOVE PARKING CABLE SUPPORT BRACKET






(a) Remove the 2 nuts and parking cable support bracket.
30. DISCONNECT REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY LH Removal

31. DISCONNECT REAR STABILIZER LINK ASSEMBLY RH

32. DISCONNECT REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH (w/ Coil Suspension) Removal

33. DISCONNECT REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY RH (w/ Coil Suspension)

34. DISCONNECT PNEUMATIC CYLINDER WITH REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY LH (w/ Air Suspension) Removal

35. DISCONNECT PNEUMATIC CYLINDER WITH REAR SHOCK ABSORBER ASSEMBLY RH (w/ Air Suspension)

36. DISCONNECT REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH Removal

37. DISCONNECT REAR NO. 2 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

38. DISCONNECT REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY LH Removal

39. DISCONNECT REAR NO. 1 SUSPENSION ARM ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

40. DISCONNECT TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY LH Removal

41. DISCONNECT TOE CONTROL LINK SUB-ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

42. DISCONNECT REAR UPPER NO. 1 CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH Removal

43. DISCONNECT REAR UPPER NO. 1 CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

44. DISCONNECT REAR UPPER NO. 2 CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY LH Removal

45. DISCONNECT REAR UPPER NO. 2 CONTROL ARM ASSEMBLY RH
HINT: Use the same procedures described for the LH side.

46. REMOVE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY LH
(a) Using a plastic-faced hammer, separate the drive shaft from the rear axle assembly.
(b) Remove the rear axle carrier.
NOTICE:
- Be careful not to damage the boot.
- Use a wire or an equivalent to keep the rear drive shaft assembly from hanging down.

47. REMOVE REAR AXLE ASSEMBLY RH

48. REMOVE REAR DRIVE SHAFT ASSEMBLY LH






(a) Using SST, remove the rear drive shaft.

- Be careful not to damage the oil seal, inboard joint boot and drive shaft dust cover.
- Be careful not to drop the drive shaft.
