DTC 42
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The No. 1 speed sensor outputs 20-pulse signal for every revolution of the rotor shaft, which is rotated by the transmission output shaft via the driven gear. This signal is converted in the combination meter to 4 pulse signal by the pulse conversion circuit and then sent to Engine Control Module (ECM). The ECM determines the vehicle speed based on the frequency of these pulse signals. In the electronic controlled transmission, this sensor is used as a backup sensor in case of malfunction of the No. 2 speed sensor.
DETECTING CONDITION
REFERENCE
DIAGNOSTIC CHART
- Waveform between terminals SPD and E1 when vehicle speed is approx. 37 MPH (60 km/ h).
HINT: The more the vehicle speed gains, the more the SPD signal produces.
