A component failure in the ABS that has intermittent symptoms is difficult to identify. For example, the ABS Control Unit may detect a symptom of a problem related to an ABS component, store an appropriate diagnostic trouble code, and then when the component is later being inspected, the symptom will not be evident. If diagnosis is halted at this point, there is a risk that the problem may return when the vehicle is driven again To minimize this risk, perform the following procedure in those situations where a retrieved diagnostic trouble code has led you to a component test, but the component then tests as good.
