D1: RETRIEVE DTCS
NOTE: Battery and or ECM disconnection prior to scanning will erase all data, ensure that the correct DTC is present.
Connect scan tool.
Record DTC(s), freeze frame data and go to D2.
D2: CHECK HARNESS CONTINUITY (SENSOR INPUT)
Disconnect EM011 and EM010.
Remove FTP sensor connector FP001.
Measure resistance between EM011/007 and FP001/002.
Is the resistance < 0.5 Ohms?
Yes
Go to D3
No
Inspect harness / connectors EM011, FP001, EM003, FC001, BT004 and BT005 for damage, corrosion, bent / pushed back pins. Repair as necessary and test the system for normal operation.
D3: CHECK HARNESS CONTINUITY (SENSOR SUPPLY GROUND)
Ensure EM011, FP001 and EM010 are disconnected.
Measure resistance between EM010/020 and FP001/001. EM011/012 and FP001/001.
Is the resistance < 0.5 Ohms ?
Yes
Go to D4
No
Inspect harness / connectors EM011, FP001, EM003, FC001, BT004, BT005, splices EMS1 and EMS2 for damage, corrosion, bent / pushed back pins. Repair as necessary and test the system for normal operation.
D4: CHECK HARNESS CONTINUITY (SENSOR SUPPLY 5 VOLTS)
Ensure EM011, FP001 and EM010 are disconnected. Measure resistance between EM011/008 and FP001/003.
Is the resistance < 0.5 Ohms?
Yes
Go to D5
No
Inspect harness / connectors EM011, FP001, EM003, FC001, BT004 and BT005 for damage, corrosion, bent / pushed back pins. Repair as necessary and test the system for normal operation.
D5: CHECK HARNESS ISOLATION
Ensure EM011, FP001 and EM010 are disconnected.
Measure resistance between FP001/002 and FP001/001. FP001/002 and FP001/003.
Is the resistance > 10 M Ohms?
Yes
Go to D6
No
Inspect harness / connectors EM011, FP001, EM003, FC001, BT004 and BT005 for damage, corrosion, bent / pushed back pins. Repair as necessary and test the system for normal operation.
D6: CHECK SENSOR POWER SUPPLY VOLTAGE
With EM011 and EM010 connected and FP001 disconnected, measure voltage between pins 1 and 3 of sensor connector.
Is voltage > 4V?
Yes
Reconnect FP001
Go to D7
No
Recheck harness / connector integrity. Repair as necessary and test the system for normal operation.
D7: CHECK FOR SENSOR INPUT SHORT TO B+
With EM011, EM010 and FP001 disconnected, measure voltage between pins 1 and 2 of sensor connector.
Is voltage B+ ?
No
Go to D8
Yes
Inspect harness / connectors EM011, FP001, EM003, FC001, BT004 and BT005 for damage, corrosion, bent / pushed back pins. Repair as necessary and test the system for normal operation.
D8: REPLACE FUEL TANK PRESSURE SENSOR
Replace Fuel Tank Pressure Sensor. Service and Repair
Test the system for normal operation and go to D9.
D9: End
Perform appropriate service drive cycle and check for the presence of DTC.
Has the fault code cleared?
Yes
STOP
No
Contact Jaguar Service
