CIRCUIT DIAGRAM

HARNESS INSPECTION PROCEDURE

SENSOR INSPECTION
1. Disconnect the knock sensor connector.
2. Measure resistance between the terminal 2 and 3.
Standard value about 5 M Ohms [at 20 °C (68 °F)]

3. If the resistance is continual, replace the knock sensor.

Tightening torque
Knock Sensor 16 - 28 N - m (160 -250 kg.cm, 11.8 -1 8.4 lb.ft)

4. Measure the capacitance between the terminal 2 & 3.

Standard Value 800-1600 pF

TROUBLESHOOTING PROCEDURES

TROUBLESHOOTING HINTS
When knock sensor signal is abnormally low.

FAILURE CONDITIONS
The ECM will set a code (Malfunction Indicator Lamp will Not turn on) if during two driving cycles the knock sensor's output voltage falls below 650 millivolts during a 4 second check when the following conditions are met:
- Starter is not engaged.
- Engine speed is above 2520 rpm.
- Engine coolant temperature is above 122 °F (50 °C).
- Engine load is greater than 2.5 milliseconds.

This code indicates an unexpected vibration is being read by the knock sensor or ECM under normal engine operation.
