Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement (Right Hand Drive)

Removal Procedure

1. Disable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair) .
2. Remove the instrument panel (I/P) storage compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement (Left Hand Drive) (Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement (Left Hand Drive))Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement (Right Hand Drive) (Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement (Right Hand Drive)) .
3. Remove the left and right windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement (Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement) .
4. Remove the left and right front door sill plates. Refer to Front Side Door Sill Plate Replacement (Front Side Door Sill Plate Replacement) .
5. Remove the left and right lower cowl panels. Refer to Cowl Side Trim Panel Replacement (Cowl Side Trim Panel Replacement) .
6. Remove the instrument panel center trim plate. Refer to Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement (Left Hand Drive) (Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement (Left Hand Drive))Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement (Right Hand Drive) (Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement (Right Hand Drive)) .
7. Remove the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement (Radio Replacement) .
8. Remove the left air outlet. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Replacement - Left Side (Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Replacement - Left Side) .
9. Remove the right air outlet. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Replacement - Right Side (Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Replacement - Right Side) .
10. Remove the knee bolster bracket. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement (Left Hand Drive) (Driver Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement (Left Hand Drive))Driver Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement (Right Hand Drive) (Driver Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement (Right Hand Drive)) .
11. Remove the instrument panel cluster (IPC) trim panel. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement (Left Hand Drive) (Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement (Left Hand Drive))Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement (Right Hand Drive) (Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement (Right Hand Drive)) .
12. Remove the instrument panel cluster. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement (Left Hand Drive) (Service and Repair) .
13. Remove the headlamp switch and retain for transfer. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement (Service and Repair) .
14. Remove the ambient light sensor. Refer to Ambient Light Sensor Replacement (Service and Repair) .




15. Remove the 3 upper I/P bolt covers.




16. Remove the 3 upper I/P nuts retaining the I/P to the bulkhead.




17. Remove the screw located behind the IPC.




18. Remove the 2 screws retaining the I/P compartment door latch striker.
19. Remove the 3 lower I/P retaining screws located near the I/P storage compartment.
20. Remove the digital radio receiver. Refer to Digital Radio Receiver Replacement (Digital Radio Receiver Replacement) .




21. Remove the 2 screws located in the IPM opening.




22. Remove the screw from the I/P end cap.




23. Reach through the I/P storage compartment (1) opening and remove the screw retaining the I/P carrier to the I/P structure.




24. Grasp the lower center edge of the I/P and pull rearward in order to release the 2 retaining clips.




25. Grasp the lower right edge of the I/P and pull rearward in order to release the retaining clip.
26. Pull the I/P partially away from the I/P structure.
27. With automatic transmission, move the gear selector to low range and remove the shift knob. Refer to Floor Shift Control Knob Replacement (Floor Shift Control Knob Replacement) .
28. With manual transmission, place the gear selector in 2nd or 4th gear and remove the shift knob.
29. With the aid of an assistant, carefully remove the I/P from the vehicle.
30. Remove the HVAC distributor duct from the instrument panel assembly. Refer to Air Distributor Duct Replacement (Left Hand Drive) (Air Distributor Duct Replacement (Left Hand Drive))Air Distributor Duct Replacement (Right Hand Drive) (Air Distributor Duct Replacement (Right Hand Drive)) .
31. Transfer the wiring harness to the new instrument panel.
32. Transfer the inflatable restraint module and bracket to the new instrument panel.
33. Disconnect the keyless entry antenna from the body control module (BCM).
34. Transfer the keyless entry antenna to the new I/P.



Installation Procedure

1. Connect the keyless entry antenna to the BCM.
2. Install the HVAC distributor duct to the instrument panel assembly. Refer to Air Distributor Duct Replacement (Left Hand Drive) (Air Distributor Duct Replacement (Left Hand Drive))Air Distributor Duct Replacement (Right Hand Drive) (Air Distributor Duct Replacement (Right Hand Drive)) .




3. With the aid of an assistant, partially install the I/P cover to the I/P structure.
4. Reach through the left side of the IPC opening and install the I/P wiring harness clips (1) to the I/P.




5. Reach through the IPC opening and install the I/P wiring harness clips (1) to the I/P.




6. Reach through the center stack opening and install the I/P wiring harness clips (1) to the HVAC vent.




7. Reach through the IPM opening and install the I/P wiring harness clips (1) to the I/P.
8. Ensure all the wire harness and electrical connectors are not pinched between the I/P and I/P structure.
9. Connect the electrical connectors to the power outlets.




10. Push on the lower center edge of the I/P and seat the 2 retaining clips.




11. Push on the lower right edge of the I/P and seat the retaining clip.

Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice (Fastener Notice) .

12. Install the 3 upper HVAC duct screws retaining the duct to the I/P.

Tighten the screws to 3 N.m (27 lb in).





13. Install the 3 upper nuts retaining the I/P to the bulkhead.

Tighten the nuts to 9 N.m (80 lb in).





14. Reach through the I/P storage compartment opening (1) and install the screw retaining the I/P carrier to the I/P structure.

Tighten the screw to 3 N.m (27 lb in).





15. Install the 2 screws located in the IPM opening.

Tighten the screws to 3 N.m (27 lb in).





16. Install the end cap screw.

Tighten the screws to 2.5 N.m (22 lb in).





17. Position the hazard warning switch harness through the routing hole.




18. Install the 2 screws retaining the I/P compartment door latch.

Tighten the screws to 3 N.m (27 lb in).

19. Install the 3 lower I/P retaining screws located near the I/P storage compartment.

Tighten the screws to 9 N.m (80 lb in).





20. Install the screw located behind the IPC.

Tighten the screw to 9 N.m (80 lb in).





21. Install the 3 upper I/P bolt covers.
22. Install the ambient light sensor. Refer to Ambient Light Sensor Replacement (Service and Repair) .
23. Install the headlamp switch. Refer to Headlamp Switch Replacement (Service and Repair) .
24. Install the left air outlet. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Replacement - Left Side (Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Replacement - Left Side) .
25. Install the IPC. Refer to Instrument Cluster Replacement (Left Hand Drive) (Service and Repair) .
26. Install the IPC trim plate. Refer to Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement (Left Hand Drive) (Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement (Left Hand Drive))Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement (Right Hand Drive) (Instrument Cluster Trim Panel Replacement (Right Hand Drive)) .
27. Install the knee bolster bracket. Refer to Driver Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement (Left Hand Drive) (Driver Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement (Left Hand Drive))Driver Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement (Right Hand Drive) (Driver Knee Bolster Bracket Replacement (Right Hand Drive)) .
28. Install the digital radio receiver. Refer to Digital Radio Receiver Replacement (Digital Radio Receiver Replacement) .
29. Install the right air outlet. Refer to Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Replacement - Right Side (Instrument Panel Outer Air Outlet Replacement - Right Side) .
30. Install the radio. Refer to Radio Replacement (Radio Replacement) .
31. Install the instrument panel center trim panel. Refer to Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement (Left Hand Drive) (Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement (Left Hand Drive))Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement (Right Hand Drive) (Instrument Panel Center Trim Panel Replacement (Right Hand Drive)) .
32. Install the I/P storage compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement (Left Hand Drive) (Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement (Left Hand Drive))Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement (Right Hand Drive) (Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement (Right Hand Drive)) .
33. Install the left and right windshield garnish moldings. Refer to Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement (Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement) .
34. Install the left and right lower cowl panels. Refer to Cowl Side Trim Panel Replacement (Cowl Side Trim Panel Replacement) .
35. Install the left and right front door sill plates. Refer to Front Side Door Sill Plate Replacement (Front Side Door Sill Plate Replacement) .
36. Install the transmission shift knob. Refer to Floor Shift Control Knob Replacement (Floor Shift Control Knob Replacement) .
37. Enable the SIR system. Refer to SIR Disabling and Enabling (Service and Repair) .
