Driver's Airbag Replacement




Driver's Airbag Replacement

NOTE: If replacing the driver's airbag after deployment, refer to Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment Service and Repair for a complete list of other parts that must also be replaced.

Removal

1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure Procedures, then wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.

2. Remove the access panel (A) from the steering wheel, then disconnect the cable reel 4P connector (B) from the driver's airbag 4P connector.






3. Remove the two TORX bolts (A) using a TORX T30 bit.





4. Disconnect the horn switch 1P connector, then remove the driver's airbag (B).

Installation

NOTE: If you are replacing a deployed driver's airbag, inspect the cable reel for heat damage. If there is any damage, replace the cable reel Service and Repair.

1. Connect the horn switch 1P connector (A) to the driver's airbag.





2. Place the driver's airbag (B) in the steering wheel, and secure it with the new TORX bolts (C).

3. Connect the cable reel 4P connector to the driver's airbag 4P connector (A), then install the access panel (B) on the steering wheel.





4. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure Procedures.

5. Clear any DTCs.

6. After installing the driver's airbag, confirm proper system operation:

- Turn the ignition switch to ON (II), and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.
- Make sure the horn works properly.
