SRS Unit Replacement
NOTE: If replacing the SRS unit after deployment, refer to Component Replacement/Inspection After Deployment Service and Repair for a complete list of other parts that must also be replaced.
Removal
NOTE: If you are disconnecting only SRS unit connector A, skip step 2.
1. Do the battery terminal disconnection procedure, Procedures then wait at least 3 minutes before starting work.
2. Disconnect both seat belt buckle tensioner 4P connectors Technician Safety Information and both seat belt tensioner 4P connector. Technician Safety Information
3. Remove the center console. Center Console Removal/Installation
4. Disconnect SRS unit connector A (28P), B (28P) and remove the TORX bolts (C), then pull out the SRS unit.
Installation
1. Install the SRS unit (A) with new TORX bolts (B), then connect the connectors (C) to the SRS unit; push them into position until they click.
NOTE: Be sure the SRS unit is sitting squarely against it's bracket before torquing the TORX bolt.
2. Reconnect both seat belt buckle tensioner 4P connectors Technician Safety Information and both seat belt tensioner 4P connector. Technician Safety Information
3. Do the battery terminal reconnection procedure. Procedures
4. Calibrate the ODS unit. Programming and Relearning
5. Do the ODS unit operation check. ODS Unit Operation Check
6. After installing the SRS unit, confirm proper system operation: Turn the ignition switch to ON (II); the SRS indicator should come on for about 6 seconds and then go off.
7. Reinstall all removed parts.
