Chart D Air Bag Warn Lamp Flash 7 Times and Then Flashes DTC 12
Diagnostic Chart:
Wiring Diagram:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
When the ignition switch is first turned to "ON," "Ignition 1" voltage is applied from the 15 amp "IG" fuse (near base of steering column in junction block) to the "AIR BAG" warning lamp which is connected to "SIR Indicator" terminal "7." The "AIR BAG-IG" fuse applies system voltage to the "Ignition 1" input, terminal "8." The SDM responds by flashing the "AIR BAG" warning lamp seven times to indicate the SIR system is free from malfunctions. When the diagnostic request line is jumpered to ground, the SDM will flash the "AIR BAG" warning lamp to indicate if DTC's are present and, if so, what DTC's are present.
CHART TEST DESCRIPTION
Number below refers to circled number on the diagnostic chart.
1. This test determines whether the malfunction is in the SDM circuitry or in the wiring.
