Chart A1-7C Fuel Pressure Gauge Installation
Fuel Pressure Gage Installation:
CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The following procedure outlines the installation and removal of the fuel pressure gauge. Make sure to observe all cautions while performing this procedures.
TOOLS REQUIRED
J 34730-1 Fuel Pressure Gage
J 34730-75 Fuel Rail Adapter
WARNING:
^ To reduce the risk of fire and personal injury, it is necessary to relieve the fuel system pressure before servicing the fuel system.
^ After relieving fuel system pressure, a small amount of fuel may be released when servicing fuel pipes, hoses or connections. To reduce the chance of personal injury and to catch any fuel that may leak out, cover fuel pipe fittings with a shop towel before disconnecting them. Place the shop towel in an approved container when disconnect is completed.
FUEL PRESSURE GAGE INSTALLATION
1. Loosen fuel filler cap to relieve fuel tank pressure.
2. Remove fuse and relay box cover and engine coolant reservoir from its bracket.
3. Disconnect fuse and relay box from fender (two screws).
4. Disconnect fuel pump relay from fuse and relay box connector.
5. Crank engine and allow to stall. Crank engine for an additional 3 seconds to assure relief of any remaining fuel pressure.
6. Disconnect negative (-) battery cable.
7. Remove air cleaner assembly (one bolt, one nut, PCV valve hose, A/C SV valve hose [if equipped] and IAT sensor connector).
8. Remove fuel feed hose from TBI unit. Use a shop towel to catch any remaining fuel that may leak.
9. Install J 34730-75 to TBI unit.
10. Install J 34730-1 to J 34730-75.
11. Install air cleaner assembly to TBI unit (one bolt, one nut, PCV valve hose, A/C SV valve hose [if equipped] and IAT sensor connector).
12. Reconnect negative (-) battery cable. Tighten to 15 Nm (11 lb ft).
13. Install fuel pump relay into its connector and connect fuse and relay box to fender (two screws).
14. Install fuse and relay box cover and engine coolant reservoir to its bracket and tighten fuel filler cap.
