Audible Warning Device: Service and Repair

REMOVAL

WARNING: To avoid serious or fatal injury on vehicles equipped with airbags, disable the supplemental restraint system before attempting any steering wheel, steering column, airbag, seat belt tensioner, impact sensor, or instrument panel component diagnosis or service. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative (ground) cable, then wait two minutes for the system capacitor to discharge before performing further diagnosis or service. This is the only sure way to disable the supplemental restraint system. Failure to take the proper precautions could result in accidental airbag deployment.

NOTE: The following procedure is for service of the buzzer transducer used in the rear park assist system. The buzzer transducer used in the front park assist system is integral to and serviced as a unit with the front park assist display on the top of the instrument panel near the center and close to the windshield.

1. Disconnect and isolate the battery negative cable.
2. Remove the driver side front seat from the top of the seat riser (3). .
3. Insert a finger into the pull hole (2) near the back of the seat riser cover (1) and pull the cover upward gently and evenly to disengage the tabs that secure the edges of the cover to the top of the seat riser.

4. Remove the screw (2) that secures the mounting bracket (3) for the park assist buzzer (4) to the top of the inboard side of the seat riser (1).
5. Lift the mounting bracket and buzzer away from the seat riser far enough to access and disconnect the wire harness connector from the connector receptacle on the under side of the buzzer.
6. Remove the buzzer and mounting bracket from the seat riser as a unit.
