Pinpoint Test B: No Power in ACC - Vehicles With an Ignition Switch

Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 13, Power Distribution/SJB for schematic and connector information. Diagrams By Number

Normal Operation

When the ignition switch is in the ACC position, voltage is provided to the Smart Junction Box (SJB) along circuit CDC33 (VT/GN). The SJB (Smart Junction Box) distributes voltage from CDC33 (VT/GN) to fuses 43 (10A) and 45 (5A).

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- Wiring, terminals or connectors

- Ignition switch

- SJB (Smart Junction Box)

PINPOINT TEST B : NO POWER IN ACC - VEHICLES WITH AN IGNITION SWITCH

NOTICE: Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multi-meter probes.

B1 ISOLATE THE IGNITION SWITCH

- Disconnect: Ignition Switch C250.

- Carry out the Ignition Switch component test.

Is the ignition switch OK?

Yes
GO to B2.

No
INSTALL a new ignition switch. REFER to Ignition Switch . TEST the system for normal operation.

B2 CHECK THE IGNITION ACC CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

- Ignition OFF.

- Disconnect: SJB (Smart Junction Box) C2280A.

- Measure the resistance between SJB (Smart Junction Box) C2280A-3, circuit CDC33 (VT/GN), harness side and ignition switch C250-6, circuit CDC33 (VT/GN), harness side.

Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?

Yes
GO to B3.

No
REPAIR circuit CDC33 (VT/GN). TEST the system for normal operation.

B3 CHECK THE IGNITION ACC CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

- Measure the resistance between SJB (Smart Junction Box) C2280A-3, circuit CDC33 (VT/GN), harness side and ground.

Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?

Yes
GO to B4.

No
REPAIR circuit CDC33 (VT/GN). TEST the system for normal operation.

B4 ISOLATE THE SJB (Smart Junction Box)

- Connect: SJB (Smart Junction Box) C2280A.

- Disconnect: SJB (Smart Junction Box) Fuse 45 (5A).

- Measure the voltage between SJB (Smart Junction Box) fuse 45 (5A) input side and ground.

Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?

Yes
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
GO to B5.

B5 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB (Smart Junction Box) OPERATION

- Ignition OFF.

- Disconnect all SJB (Smart Junction Box) connections.

- Check all SJB (Smart Junction Box) connections for:
- corrosion.
- pushed-out pins.
- spread terminals.

- Connect all SJB (Smart Junction Box) connections and make sure it is seated correctly.

- Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.

Is the concern still present?

Yes
INSTALL a new SJB (Smart Junction Box). CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector. TEST the system for normal operation.
