Pinpoint Test F: The Adaptive Cruise Control Does Not Function In Rain Or Snow Conditions (If Equipped)

Normal Operation

The adaptive cruise control system is enabled when the vehicle speed is set and the Cruise-Control Module (C-CM), which is a radar unit, determines the distance and relative speed of the vehicle that is in the path of travel. The adaptive cruise control system has limited performance in rain and snow conditions. The radar unit can be blocked or obstructed due to these types of weather conditions.

- DTC C1A67:97 (Forward Looking Sensor: Component Or System Obstructed Or Blocked)- set by the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) as a continuous memory and on-demand DTC if the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) detects an obstruction or if the sensor is blocked. This DTC may also set when the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) does not see a vehicle or object on the road for an extended period.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- C-CM (Cruise-Control Module)

- Blockage or obstruction

- C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) fascia cover

- C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) fascia foam

PINPOINT TEST F : THE ADAPTIVE CRUISE CONTROL DOES NOT FUNCTION IN RAIN OR SNOW CONDITIONS (IF EQUIPPED)

NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

F1 INSPECT THE C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) FASCIA COVER FOR DAMAGE

- Inspect for damage on the front and back of the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) fascia cover and foam.

Is the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) fascia cover damaged?

Yes
REPAIR or REPLACE the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) fascia cover as necessary. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
GO to F2.

F2 INSPECT THE C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) AND FASCIA COVER FOR DEBRIS, MOISTURE, SNOW OR ICE

- Inspect for debris, moisture, snow or ice on the front and back of the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) fascia cover and sensor.

Is the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) obstructed or blocked?

Yes
REMOVE the fascia cover. CLEAN the C-CM (Cruise-Control Module) fascia cover, fascia foam and radar sensor portion as necessary. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.

No
The system is operating normally at this time. This condition may have been cause by previous snow or water build up. CLEAR the DTCs. TEST the system for normal operation.
