Pinpoint Test A: A Single Power Window is Inoperative - LH Front
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 100, Power Windows for schematic and connector information [1][2]Diagrams By Number.
Normal Operation
Under normal operation, the LH front power window motor receives high current power at all times through circuit SBB34 (YE/RD). Ground is provided to the LH front power window motor through circuit GD133 (BK). The LH front power window control switch and LH front power window motor receive low current power from the accessory delay relay through circuit CBP41 (BU). When the LH front window control switch is operated in the UP position, the LH front window motor receives a voltage signal through circuit CPW11 (BU/GY). When the LH front window control switch is operated in the DOWN position, the LH front window motor receives a voltage signal through circuit CPW10 (YE/VT).
This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:
- Fuse
- Wiring, terminals or connectors
- Window control switch
- Window motor
PINPOINT TEST A : A SINGLE POWER WINDOW IS INOPERATIVE - LH FRONT
NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.
A1 CHECK THE POWER TO THE LH WINDOW MOTOR
- Ignition OFF.
- Disconnect: LH Front Window Motor C518.
- Measure the voltage between LH front window motor C518-1, circuit SBB34 (YE/RD), harness side and ground.
Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes
GO to A2.
No
VERIFY Battery Junction Box (BJB) fuse 34 (30A) is OK. If OK, REPAIR the circuit. DE-INITIALIZE then INITIALIZE the LH front window motor. REFER to Window Motor Initialization . TEST the system for normal operation.
If not OK, REFER to the Wiring Diagrams to identify the possible causes of the circuit short [1][2]Diagrams By Number. REPAIR the circuit. TEST the system for normal operation.
A2 CHECK THE LH FRONT WINDOW MOTOR DELAYED ACCESSORY FEED
- Ignition ON.
- Measure the voltage between LH front window motor C518-3, circuit CBP41 (BU), harness side and ground.
Is the voltage greater than 10 volts?
Yes
GO to A3.
No
REPAIR the circuit. DE-INITIALIZE then INITIALIZE the LH front window motor. REFER to Window Motor Initialization . TEST the system for normal operation.
A3 CHECK THE LH FRONT WINDOW MOTOR GROUND
- Ignition OFF.
- Measure the resistance between LH front window motor C518-2, circuit GD133 (BK), harness side and ground.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
GO to A4.
No
REPAIR the circuit. DE-INITIALIZE then INITIALIZE the LH front window motor. REFER to Window Motor Initialization . TEST the system for normal operation.
A4 CHECK CIRCUIT CPW10 (YE/VT) FOR AN OPEN
- Disconnect: LH Front Window Control Switch C504.
- Measure the resistance between LH front window motor C518-5, circuit CPW10 (YE/VT), harness side and LH front window control switch C504-7, circuit CPW10 (YE/VT), harness side.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
GO to A5.
No
REPAIR the circuit. DE-INITIALIZE then INITIALIZE the LH front window motor. REFER to Window Motor Initialization . TEST the system for normal operation.
A5 CHECK CIRCUIT CPW11 (BU/GY) FOR AN OPEN
- Measure the resistance between LH front window motor C518-4, circuit CPW11 (BU/GY), harness side and LH front window control switch C504-2, circuit CPW11 (BU/GY), harness side.
Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
Yes
GO to A6.
No
REPAIR the circuit. DE-INITIALIZE then INITIALIZE the LH front window motor. REFER to Window Motor Initialization . TEST the system for normal operation.
A6 CHECK THE LH FRONT WINDOW CONTROL SWITCH
- Carry out the LH front window control switch component test.
Did the LH front window control switch pass the component test?
Yes
INSTALL a new LH front window motor. REFER to Window Regulator Motor - Front Door . INITIALIZE the LH front window motor. REFER to Window Motor Initialization . TEST the system for normal operation.
No
INSTALL a new LH front window control switch. REFER to Window Control Switch . DE-INITIALIZE then INITIALIZE the LH front window motor. REFER to Window Motor Initialization . TEST the system for normal operation.
