Pinpoint Test AX: DTC U0184:87

Normal Operation

- DTC U0184:87 (Lost Communication With Radio: Missing Message)- sets in the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) if data messages received from the Audio Front Control Module (ACM) over the High Speed Controller Area Network (HS-CAN) are missing for more than 5 seconds. For a complete list of all network messages, refer to Information Bus.

This pinpoint test is intended to diagnose the following:

- ACM (Audio Front Control Module)

- IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster)

PINPOINT TEST AX : DTC U0184:87

AX1 VERIFY THE CUSTOMER CONCERN

- Ignition ON.

- Verify that there is an observable symptom present.

Is an observable symptom present?

Yes
GO to AX2.

No
The system is operating normally at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.

AX2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK

- Ignition ON.

- Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Network Test.

- Carry out the network test.

Does the ACM (Audio Front Control Module) module pass the network test?

Yes
GO to AX3.

No
REFER to Information Bus.

AX3 RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs FROM THE IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) AND ACM (Audio Front Control Module) SELF-TESTS

- Check for recorded DTCs from the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) and ACM (Audio Front Control Module) self-tests.

Is DTC U3003:16 or DTC U3003:17 recorded?

Yes
For the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) , GO to Pinpoint Test AY (U3003:16) Pinpoint Test AY: DTC U3003:16 or GO to Pinpoint Test AZ (U3003:17) Pinpoint Test AZ: DTC U3003:17.

For the ACM (Audio Front Control Module) , REFER to Accessories and Optional Equipment.

No
GO to AX4.

AX4 RECHECK THE IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) DTCs

NOTE: If new modules were installed prior to the DTC being set, the module configuration may be incorrectly set during the Programmable Module Installation (PMI) or PMI (Programmable Module Installation) may not have been carried out.

- Clear the DTCs. Repeat the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) self-test.

Is DTC U0184:87 still present?

Yes
INSTALL a new ACM (Audio Front Control Module). CLEAR the DTCs. REPEAT the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) self-test.

If DTC U0184:87 is still present, INSTALL a new IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster). REFER to Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) . TEST the system for normal operation.

No
The system is operating correctly at this time. The DTC may have been set due to high network traffic or an intermittent fault condition.
