Diagnostic Routine S
Diagnostic Overview
The Hazard Lamp Function Is Inoperative Or Always On
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 90 for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
REFER to Hazard Lamps .
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
Visual Inspection and Diagnostic Pre-checks
- Inspect the hazard flasher lamp switch for damage.
Pinpoint Test
1. CHECK FOR BCM (Body Control Module) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes)
1. Ignition ON.
2. Using a scan tool, perform the BCM (Body Control Module) self-test.
Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B1D35:11 or DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B1D35:23 present?
2. ISOLATE THE HAZARD FLASHER LAMP SWITCH OR THE FCIM (Front Controls Interface Module)
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: Hazard Flasher Lamp Switch (vehicles with Sony(R) Sound).
3. Disconnect: FCIM (Front Controls Interface Module) (vehicles with base or premium sound).
4. Ignition ON.
5. Using a scan tool, clear the DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) and repeat the BCM (Body Control Module) self-test.
Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B1D35:11 or DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B1D35:23 retrieved again?
3. CHECK THE HAZARD FLASHER SWITCH INPUT CIRCUIT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: BCM (Body Control Module) C2280C.
3. Measure:
Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
4. BYPASS THE HAZARD FLASHER SWITCH
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: Hazard Flasher Lamp Switch (vehicles with Sony(R) Sound).
3. Disconnect: FCIM (Front Controls Interface Module) (vehicles with base or premium sound).
4. Ignition ON.
5. Using a scan tool, view BCM (Body Control Module) PIDs (Parameter Identifications).
6. Monitor the BCM (Body Control Module) HAZARD_LP_SW PID (Parameter Identification).
7. For vehicles with Sony(R) Sound, connect a fused jumper wire:
8. For vehicles with base or premium sound, connect a fused jumper wire:
Does the PID (Parameter Identification) indicate the hazard switch is active?
5. CHECK THE HAZARD FLASHER SWITCH GROUND CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. Using a scan tool, monitor the BCM (Body Control Module) HAZARD_LP_SW PID (Parameter Identification).
2. Connect a fused jumper wire:
Does the PID (Parameter Identification) indicate the hazard switch is active?
6. CHECK THE HAZARD FLASHER SWITCH INPUT CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: BCM (Body Control Module) C2280C.
3. For vehicles with Sony(R) Sound, measure:
4. For vehicles with base or premium sound, measure:
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
7. CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (Body Control Module) OPERATION
1. Disconnect and inspect all BCM (Body Control Module) connectors.
2. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins- install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins- install new pins as necessary
3. Reconnect the BCM (Body Control Module) connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
