Diagnostic Overview
A Door Ajar Display Is Never or Always On
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 89 for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
REFER to Door Ajar Indication Displays .
If the door status message is missing for the programmed length of time or longer, the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) sets DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0140:00 in continuous memory and defaults all door ajar message center displays off until the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) receives a valid message indicating a door ajar.
BCM (Body Control Module) DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
Pinpoint Test
1. CHECK THE MESSAGE CENTER OPERATION
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: Brake Fluid Level Switch.
3. Ignition ON.
4. Wait 1 minute.
5. Observe the message center operation.
Does the message center display the low brake fluid level message?
2. VERIFY THE CONDITION
1. Verify whether the concern is a luggage compartment ajar or hood ajar message center display concern.
Is the concern a luggage compartment ajar or hood ajar message center display concern?
3. CHECK THE INTERIOR LIGHTING OPERATION
1. Open and close each door while monitoring the interior lamps.
Do the interior lamps operate correctly with each door?
4. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) self-test.
Are any DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) recorded?
5. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE BCM (Body Control Module) SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform the BCM (Body Control Module) self-test.
Are any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?
6. CHECK THE LIFTGATE AJAR INPUT FOR GROUND THROUGH THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT OR LIFTGATE LATCH
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: BCM (Body Control Module) C2280B.
3. Measure:
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
7. CHECK THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT OR LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH GROUND
1. Disconnect: Luggage Compartment or Liftgate Latch.
2. Measure
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
8. BYPASS THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT OR LIFTGATE AJAR SWITCH
1. Connect: BCM (Body Control Module) C2280B.
2. Connect a jumper wire:
3. Ignition ON.
4. Using a scan tool, perform the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) self-test.
Is DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) B1306:13 present?
9. CHECK THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LID OR LIFTGATE AJAR INPUT FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect: BCM (Body Control Module) C2280B.
3. Measure:
Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
10. CHECK THE LUGGAGE COMPARTMENT LID OR LIFTGATE SWITCH
1. Disconnect: Luggage Compartment or Liftgate Latch.
2. Measure:
Is the resistance greater than 10,000 ohms?
11. CHECK FOR CORRECT BCM (Body Control Module) OPERATION
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect and inspect all BCM (Body Control Module) connectors.
3. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins- install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins- install new pins as necessary
4. Reconnect the BCM (Body Control Module) connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
5. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
