Diagnostic Overview

The Charging System Warning Indicator Is Never or Always On

Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

REFER to Charging System Warning Indicator .

If the power system status message is missing for less than 2 seconds, the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) defaults the charging system warning indicator to its last state (on or off) based upon the last known good message received.

If the power system status message is missing for 2 seconds or longer, the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) sets DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) U0140:00 in continuous memory and defaults the charging system warning indicator on.

Pinpoint Test

1. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) SELF-TEST

1. Using a scan tool, perform the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) self-test.

Are any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?







2. RETRIEVE THE RECORDED DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE BCM (Body Control Module) SELF-TEST

1. Using a scan tool, perform the BCM (Body Control Module) self-test.

Are any DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?







3. CHECK THE CHARGING SYSTEM OPERATION

1. Check the charging system operation. REFER to Overview: Charging System .

Does the charging system operate correctly?







4. CHECK THE CHARGING SYSTEM WARNING INDICATOR USING THE DEALER TEST MODE

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Enter the Dealer Test Mode. REFER to Dealer Test Mode .

3. Scroll to LED test.

4. Montor the charging system warning indicator.

Does the charging system warning indicator illuminate?
