Diagnostic Overview
U3006:16
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
Pinpoint Test
1. RECHECK THE FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes)
1. Using a scan tool, clear the FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes).
2. Ignition OFF.
3. Ignition ON.
4. Wait 10 seconds.
5. Using a scan tool, repeat the FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) self-test.
Is DTC U3006:16 still present?
2. CHECK FOR CHARGING SYSTEM DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) IN THE PCM (Powertrain Control Module)
1. Using a scan tool, retrieve the continuous memory DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) from all modules.
Are any voltage-related DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) set in the PCM (Powertrain Control Module)?
3. CHECK THE BATTERY CONDITION AND STATE OF CHARGE
1. Check the battery condition and verify that the battery is fully charged. REFER to Diagnostic Routine A: Battery Condition Test Pinpoint Tests.
Is the battery OK and fully charged?
4. CHECK THE FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) VOLTAGE SUPPLY
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Measure and record the voltage at the battery.
3. Disconnect: FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module).
4. Ignition ON.
5. Measure:
Is the voltage within 0.2 volt of the recorded battery voltage?
5. CHECK THE FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) GROUND CIRCUIT FOR CONTINUITY
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Measure:
Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?
6. CHECK FOR CORRECT FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) OPERATION
1. Disconnect and inspect the FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) connector.
2. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged pins - install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
3. Reconnect the FCDIM (Front Control/Display Interface Module) connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
4. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
