Pinpoint Test

NOTICE: Use the correct probe adapter(s) when making measurements. Failure to use the correct probe adapter(s) may damage the connector.

NOTE: Failure to disconnect the battery when instructed results in false resistance readings. REFER to Battery Disconnect .

1. CHECK AND CLEAN THE REAR VIDEO CAMERA LENS

1. Clean and make sure the rear video camera lens is clear of any debris.

2. Test the video camera system and verify the video camera image.

Is the video camera concern still present?

2. CHECK THE VIDEO (+) AND (-) SIGNAL CIRCUITS INTEGRITY

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Disconnect: APIM (Accessory Protocol Interface Module).

3. Measure:

Is the resistance between 74 and 106 ohms?

3. CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA (+) AND (-) SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND

1. Disconnect: Video Camera C4357.

2. Measure:

Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?

4. CHECK THE VIDEO CAMERA VIDEO (+) AND (-) SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR A SHORT TO VIDEO SHIELD

1. Measure:

Are the resistances greater than 10,000 ohms?

5. CHECK VIDEO (+) AND (-) SIGNAL CIRCUITS FOR AN OPEN

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Connect a fused jumper wire:

3. Measure:

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?

6. CHECK VIDEO (+) SIGNAL CIRCUIT FOR AN OPEN

1. Measure:

Is the resistance less than 3 ohms?

7. CHECK FOR CORRECT VIDEO CAMERA OPERATION

1. Ignition OFF.

2. Disconnect and inspect the video camera connector.

3. Repair:

- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins- install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins- install new pins as necessary

4. Reconnect the video camera connector. Make sure it seats correctly.
