Diagnostic Overview
The Audible Parking Aid Is Inoperative
Refer to Wiring Diagram Set 131 for schematic and connector information Electrical Diagrams.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
REFER to Parking Aid System .
If a MyKey(R) restricted key is in use, the parking aid menu is not available in the message center and cannot be deactivated. REFER to Overview .
Pinpoint Test
1. CHECK THE DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) FROM THE PAM (Parking Aid Module) SELF-TEST
1. Using a scan tool, perform PAM (Parking Aid Module) self-test.
2. Check the PAM (Parking Aid Module) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) from the self-test.
Are any PAM (Parking Aid Module) DTCs (Diagnostic Trouble Codes) recorded?
2. CHECK FOR CORRECT MESSAGE CENTER AND/OR CENTERSTACK DISPLAY OPERATION
1. For rear parking aid, while observing the display, disable and enable the parking aid system with the message center function.
2. For front and rear parking aid, while observing the display, disable and enable the parking aid system with the disable switch.
3. While observing the display, disable and enable the parking aid system.
Is PARK AID OFF displayed when the parking aid system is disabled, and display PARK AID ON displayed when the parking aid system is enabled?
3. CHECK FOR CORRECT GEAR INPUT
1. Apply the parking brake.
2. Ignition ON.
3. For a rear park aid concern, select REVERSE.
4. For a front park aid concern, select DRIVE.
5. Using a scan tool, view IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) PIDs (Parameter Identifications).
6. Monitor the IPC (Instrument Panel Cluster) transmission gear display PID (Parameter Identification) (GEAR_DISP).
Does the PID (Parameter Identification) match the gearshift selector position?
4. CHECK FOR CORRECT PAM (Parking Aid Module) OPERATION
1. Ignition OFF.
2. Disconnect and inspect all PAM (Parking Aid Module) connectors.
3. Repair:
- corrosion (install new connector or terminals- clean module pins)
- damaged or bent pins- install new terminals/pins
- pushed-out pins- install new pins as necessary
4. Reconnect the PAM (Parking Aid Module) connectors. Make sure they seat and latch correctly.
5. Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.
Is the concern still present?
